I have only just opened my eyes. For the first time, I could take in the world with sight as a pose to scent. Everything was kinda fuzzy at first, but my uncertainty quickly vanished once my mother started to soothingly lick my forehead. Once my vision had cleared slightly, it was easy to see that I was the runt of this litter. My pelt was actually rather dark. Mumma told me it was a naturaly occurring thing. My brother and sister didn't question it.

------------------------------------------------

Weeks pass and it's obvious that I'm an outsider. I'm fine with it though, I'm not that social anyway. The others seem to spend most of their time play fighting. I either watch their every move or explore. We live in this small opening in the side of a rock, protected by thorns.

Mumma got hungry and went to find some food again. She said she'd show us how to get our own in the future. For now, we have to wait for her to return.

My siblings fight some more to pass the time and are evenly matched but soon grow tired of having the same opponent. Then, they finally remember my existence. I've never fought anyone before.

My countless hours of watching have payed off. The fight didn't last long. Once my brother got me on my back, I brought my back paws under his chest and kicked him aside. He was winded and shocked at my actions. I pinned him down, face to the floor and gave a triumphant mew. Roaring seemed impossible at this age. I guess I'll have to work on it.

"My turn!" Bellowed my sister. She loved to get in my face.

"You don't stand a chance runt!" She sneered. I'm sure that remark was meant to hurt my feelings, but it only gave me more of a reason to beat her. This was going to be so much fun.

She was stronger, but I was faster. She relied on her size when fighting and I had already noticed. So I decided to use her size against her. Let the fun begin.

I darted from one side to the other eventually causing her to trip over her own paws. She stumbled a little, and that was enough for me to make my move. I barreled into her side and we tumbled into the corner of the cave. I batted her in the head twice, pinned her down and put a tad more effort into making my mew sound like a roar. At least it was improving.

She wouldn't talk to me for the rest of the day. Simply in denial that a cub half her size that had never fought before had actually beaten her. My brother teased her for this. Her tail, twitching with irritation hadn't gone unnoticed by mumma who asked and only got an angry grunt in reply. Then my brother of corse explained everything.

Authors note; I had a tone of fun writing this and this is my first story on wattpad. Hope you enjoyed, I'll get the next chapter done soon as possible.
