CHAPTER VII - The Confession
“Ichinose-san?!” Kai voiced out loudly while she couldn’t help but blushing as Tokiya hugged her tightly in his arms. She could hear his heart beating so fast. She could feel him trembling a bit.
“Matsuzaki-san, I never said those just because I was in front of your mother.” His voice was shaking. “Even if I don’t want to say those things yet, my mind went blank and I couldn’t help but letting out those words instead.” He sighed.
“W-what are you saying Ichinose-san? What do you mean?” Kai was already confused.
“Matsuzaki-san…” He pulled back and gazed at her deeply. He wrapped his arms around her waist. “I know that Gakuenchou forbid this but—“ He lightly said to her.
“D-don’t tell me…” She interrupted with a bit of a shock on her face, covering her mouth with both of her hands.
“I…like you Kai.” He whispered.
“Wh-what?” All she could hear was just Tokiya muttering to himself.
“I like you Kai Matsuzaki.” He said proudly, facing her, looking at her seriously.
"M-me?!" She stuttered in shock to Tokiya's words. "But why? Why me? I'm nobody." She spoke loudly while shutting her eyes, gripping Tokiya's shirt, trying not to blush too hard. She couldn't believe what he just told her. She never thought that something like this would happen to her. She just stood there, blushing in silence. She couldn't speak. She never thought of herself being that important to Tokiya.
"Matsuzaki-san...Listen..." Tokiya grabbed her shoulders lightly, trying to calm her down with her questions circling around her head.
"I have liked you for quite some time now. I know you won't believe me since we've only been through not as much but...I would just like you to know that I like you, I care for you, I think about you every day and night and I know it sounds unbelievable but I couldn't believe it for myself as well. Sometimes, I don't know why but I would get pissed every time I see other guys staring at you, I want to protect you, and no matter what, I want to be with you even if it contradicts the rules of the academy." He gently caressed her face, gazing at her seriously. "I really mean it, Matsuzaki-san." He added.
"B-but--" She gently pounded his chest until he immediately hugged her tightly.
"Matsuzaki-san...It's okay...You don't have to force yourself, I'll wait for you...Even if it takes forever." He smiled heartily while whispering to her. He knew that Kai is confused to his sudden actions. He's willing to wait for her even if he's also scared of losing her. He really wanted to be with her.
"Ichinose-san..." She sniffled and smiled. "I don't know if this is just a dream or what but...I don't know how to say this." She said, looking down at her shaking feet. Tokiya was just looking at her attentively, waiting for her response.
