The next morning, I felt somehow better.

But, since my head was still pounding, I decided to take a day off.

"Wonho-ya, what do you think if we visit grandpa this weekend?" asked Wonwoo.

Wonho tilted his head, "Why?"

I was going to ask the same ㅡ why?

"W-well... it's been a long time since our last visit, right? He must've missed us a lot."

I heard hesitation in his voice, but he was good at hiding it. He blocked the 'bridge' ㅡ that connected my mind with his ㅡ in his mind so I couldn't feel what he felt.

After we finished breakfast, Wonho put on his shoes as usual as I helped Wonwoo with his tie.

"Feeling better?" Wonwoo asked as he put his palm on my forehead.

"Yeah, a bit. I'm taking a day off today so I can take a rest."

Wonwoo playfully pinched my cheek, with a slight of aegyo tone, "Please don't be sick."

I nodded at his cute attitude. Some people just never grow up, right?

"How's your dad doing?" I asked.

Wonwoo shifted his gaze from me and sighed, "Not sure."

"Is he still in the hospital?"

He nodded.

"It's the 21st year he's been laying there. I feel sad everytime I have to see him there."

In case you didn't know, Wonwoo's father had lived for 10 centuries.

If you intended to count his age, I recommend not to. Wonwoo's dad is a bit sensitive about his age.

If you think vampires were immortal, no. They were mortal, their ages were just longer than human beings.

Wonwoo's father had been through a lot of things. He fought as a warrior back then. He had lived since the first king was on charge.

"Okay. Let's pay a visit, shall we?"

~~~
Time passed and it's weekend already. As we promised, we paid a visit to the VPC hospital.
VPC used to be so cautious of human. But since Charles and his wife ㅡ who was the daughter of VPC owner now ㅡ took care of everything, VPC had become much more sociable.
"Room 307, right?"
He gently knocked on the door and pushed the door handle inward.
The first view to see was a big patient bed, covered with white and blue sheet where Wonwoo's father laid on.
Wonwoo's father laid there suffocatedly with medicine running through his blood through injections.
"Hello, father." Wonwoo said as he stepped in.
But, Wonho barged in and ran to his bed. Kids just can never be patient, can they?
"Granpa!" he jumped onto a chair to reach the bed's height and hugged the older one.
Wonwoo was worried because Wonho might be too aggressive and made the older one felt uncomfortable.
"Be nice, Wonho."
The older one shifted his gaze from the window and began laughing when his grandson eagerly jumped onto his bed.
"Hello, father." I greeted.
"Look at my beautiful daughter. Let me hug you, sweetheart." he eagerly extended his arm and brought me to his embrace.
Wonwoo father's grip was no longer as strong as it used to. His face was covered by wrinkles and his skin was no longer elastic.
Not long after, two nurses came into the room with a machine.
"We are sorry to bother your visit, but Mr. Jeon has to do the meditation now."
Wonwoo exchanged glances with me, "Aggie-yah, why don't you take Wonho downstairs to find something to eat? I'm going to stay here with dad."
I nodded in agreement and took Wonho downstairs.
While the nurses were preparing the machine, Wonwoo held his father's hand to release him from feeling tense.
"Is it going to hurt, dad?" Wonwoo asked worriedly.
His father simply chuckled, "It's okay. I've gone through this a lot."
Then, the nurse began operating the machine and his father groaned in pain at first, but he acted normal afterward.
Wonwoo threw his gaze away to the other side when the machine was connected to the older's one body. He couldn't bare to see his father hurting.
"So, have you decided?" the older one asked.
No need for Wonwoo to ask more, he already understood the question.
"I don't know, dad. I-it's... a tough decision." he answered as he lowered his vision.
The older one sighed, as he put his other hand on his son's.
"Before you were married, I always thought my life was not long anymore. I thought I had got no chance to life anymore."
"When I saw you in your wedding tux, my son, I swear it was the most beautiful moment I've ever since in my entire life. I thought I'd never regretted my death."
"Now you've put yourself in my shoes. You know how it feels to be a father and to have a child. I won't ask for much, but it's time to pay your deeds, right?"
Wonwoo lowered his vision and his gaze dropped to the ground.
"B-but father, I-"
"Just give me his blood and let me live! Is that so hard to give?"
Wonwoo's father raised his voice tone a bit. His shaky voice made Wonwoo shivered down to his spine.
"You know the rule, right? First grandson from the first son?"
Finally, Wonwoo quickly lifted his head, "But father, he's just a kid! Let him grow older and-"
Wonwoo paused when his father sighed.
"Do you want me to suffer, Wonwoo?"
In Wonwoo's head, his mind was having a conflict.
Being a grown up was not as easy as he thought.
This was the toughest decision he had ever thought in his entire life.
