In his warm embrace

White afternoon sun shone, embracing lively streets in a warm yellow color. People on the street were laughing, friendly talking, buying and seeling things - living their lives as they normaly would.

Nothing looked familiar as I walked throught these streets. Women were wearing yukatas and kimonos, when the men wore hakama pants and haori coats. Almost each of them had a sword attached around his waist.

No, these aren't just normal swords, they are carrying katanas!

(Where am I?!)

As I walked throught these unknown streets I observed the people and the things they were doing.

The panic in my head grew bigger with every step I took. My heart just wouldn't stop aching and nor my legs shaking. I had a weird feeling in my stomach as if I was about to throw out.

My eyes stopped at a small red and white flag. I lifted my head and narrowed my eyes because of the strong sunlight and then slowly read the kanji.

Bakumatsu Era, 1863.

For a moment everything seemed fine, until I re-read the year that was written on the flag.

(I'm in year 1863! Isn't that when the war in Japan started?!)

"Is it possible...?" I gasped.

I was good at Japanese so I could read easily, but I still wasn't sure if I read it right. I kept reading the kanji on the flag over and over again, but the sign never changed.

(How exactly I came here? )

I can't remember anything all I know is that I don't belong here.

(Time travelling?)

Impossible.

Still thinking I stopped in a small alleyway far away from the crowd. I sighed.

(Where am I? )

Well it's clear enough that I'm in Japan, two hundred years in the past and on top of that I don't know how I came here.

I was thinking about my situation for so long that I totally forgot about time and the sun already started to set. Warm sun's rays that guided me through theses unknown streets were slowly losing on their power and a white moon's long shadows replaced them. It was already night. I stepped outside the dark alleyway and start walking again. Not knowing where should I go I squeezed my hand into a fist.

»I'm not going to end up like this!« I whispered with clenched teeth.

"You always wanted to see a real samurai anyway" I tried to calm myself, but without any luck.

I was still wearing my clothes. Black tight trousers and dark T-shirt. My boots were all dusty and because I was walking for a whole day they became very uncomfortable. I realized that I still have my school bag and I quickly looked throught my things. Everything was still there: my phone, lipstick, a few books and a letter.

(A letter? I don't recall I'd have any kind of letter.)

I slowly opened the old envelope and what I found was an old piece of paper. The handwriting was beautiful, but I couldn't read a word. Unfortunately the paper was so old the mother nature slowly started erasing it's content. Trying not to bother to much with it I placed the letter back in the envelope. I will take a better look at it when I find a place to stay.

I was tired and my eyes were starting to close, but I still kept on walking. Then I touched something cold around my waist - It was a beautiful katana.
