(Sarah's POV)
We all stood gathered around in a room behind our school gymnasium. I looked around at everyone wearing their black and gold graduation outfits. The girl all wore the fanciest heels they could find and the guys kept hitting eachother with their hats.
Then we heard Principal Hoppus' cue for us to start walking into the gym to take our seats in alphabetical order. I took my seat and watched all my friends seated behind and in front of me nervously playing with their clothes and hair.
"Welcome, everybody to the graduation of the class of 2016!" All our families clapped and cheered as we sat in our little green cafeteria chairs waiting to get our diplomas. "Before we get started i'd like to welcome senior and valedictorian of his class, Brendon Urie!" Brendon stood up and walked onto stage, his family yelling loudly for him. "Hi everyone. So, I've been practicing the same speech for the past couple weeks during every spare moment I had. Then last night I realized a good speech isn't rehearsed. It comes from the heart. This year has been a year of realization and acceptance for me. I went through a period of time where I didn't know what gender I was and my friends and boyfriend were always there to support me. In the beginning of this year I had no friends. Then I started a group chat and I met some of the funniest and sweetest kids at my school. I even met my loving boyfriend Ryan. That's when I learned what school really is about. Even if you don't care about your education or any of that shit. Don't drop out of high school like I was going to. High School is a place where you can meet the people that will help you through your ups and downs and be there for you. I wouldn't trade my friends for anything and I owe it all to high school and Kik!"
The whole crowd erupted with cheers. After that speech I didn't think about high school the same. I thought if it as a place you go to be bored out of your mind but also make forever friendships. Thank you Brendon. For starting that group chat. The group chat that changed lives.
