I hated just walking out on them like that. But it was necessary to do so. As said, I couldn't risk them getting hurt.

I was wondering where to sleep and what to eat. Wandering alone at night is dangerous. Usually I'm with a foster family or at the orphanage; I'm hardly ever just alone at night, wandering through the streets of this little town.

I dug in my pocket for some cash, for food. I found $158 dollars. My parents, before they died, had a cookie jar under their bed full of money for emergencies. I had just grabbed a wad of cash, before the house burned down, and ran outside. I counted it later, and discovered that I had $2,760 dollars. I had spent most of it. A lot on food, but some of it on clothes, cheap hotel rooms, blankets, and other items.

I turned around, taking in the things around me, looking for a fast food place. I spotted a McDonalds across the street. I saw nobody coming on the road, so I was going to head across. I heard a low engine snake up behind me as I was passing. I turned around and looked. It was a nice black Lincoln SUV.

I continued passing the street, yet a little faster this time. The SUV was now stopped at the side of the street, on the curb. I finished making my way across the road and into the parking lot of McDonalds.

I looked back at the car. It was now started up again, and moving. By the looks of it, it was coming into the parking lot.

I hurriedly made it into the fast food restaurant. Once I had gotten in there, I made my order; a bacon and cheese quarter pounder. I got my food just about a minute later. When I had sat down to eat, I looked out of the side window. The pure black Lincoln was parked in the middle of the parking lot. Once I had finished eating, I, of course, went to the restroom.

When I was finally done with everything, I made my way outside, across the parking lot. I tried to avoid the black SUV the best I possibly could. There was something different about it, especially the way it seemed to follow me.

Unfortunately, despite my efforts of going around the SUV, a mysterious man walked out of it. He had on sunglasses, even though it was late into the night.

I looked at him as he was walking towards me. I seemed to be stuck in place, as if I couldn't move at all. When I looked away from him, I could just tell that, despite the sunglasses, we had made eye contact.

He had added the amount space between us, by a lot. He got to where he was only about a foot away from me.

He said to me, "Impressive. I, honestly, didn't know that you even existed. Good job."

I, somehow, knew what he was talking about. Now I was definitely regretting my choice leaving that house. He was talking about something that I had, mostly, discovered at my parents' deaths.

"Who are you and what do you mean?" I questioned him. I already knew what this was about, but I had to be sure.

"Ah, yes. I know that you know what I'm talking about. You know, the strange things happening when you're touching metal. Things that have to do with electricity." He completely ignored my first question, which made me wonder even more.

I started, "Why are—" I got cut off when I saw ants. Ants were everywhere. I hated ants. Spiders started coming too. My worst nightmare has officially begun, I thought to myself.

I saw a girl coming out of the Lincoln. When she got closer I realized that it was Taylor.

"Get the RESAT on her," he said to Taylor. "Torstyn, get the RESAT!" Taylor screamed inside of the vehicle.

A young, teenage guy, about my age, came out of the vehicle with something that looked like a high tech life vest.

"Put it on her," the creepy man ordered. Torstyn, I guessed, put the RESAT, again I guessed, on me.

"10." The man looked in the SUV.

"But sir—" "I know. It'll kill her if she's not strong enough. I want to see what she's got." The man in the vehicle did not respond, though he looked unsure. He looked almost scared.

When the pain started I gasped out loud, unable to breath.
I immediately felt undeniable pain throughout my whole entire body. I felt as if they had a vacuum, and it was sucking up all of my strength.

"Get up," the man with the shades ordered me.

I couldn't reply. Much less get up.

"I said- Get up, now!" he was screaming at me now. It was pointless, if he could see how bad of shape I was in.

"I... can't...," I gasped. It felt like an accomplishment to just get those words out.

"Oh God," he cursed, "Somebody go help her up and carry her."

The man who was inside of the vehicle got out and came to me.

He picked me up like I was as limp as I rag doll- probably was too. He then carried me to the Lincoln. I started squirming hoping I would fall and not have to go with them- no such luck. By this point he and I were already inside.

A chauffer was in the driver's seat. He apparently knew where to go too. He started up the vehicle once more and started to leave.

I looked out of the side window. That was my last look of my home town for a long time. I looked one last time before the world around me started to darken and I lost consciousness.
