A soft white flake fell, adding height to the blanket of snow on the forest ground. Tree's were covered in thick white coats, wrapping themselves in warmth to fight off the frosty winter air. Ruby walked deeper into the forest, her long red cape dragging just behind her, like a pool of blood. A peddle of snow kissed her rosy cheeks, as she finally stopped, and took a look around the scenery. She knew she was being followed, she forced her ears to listen. Nothing, the forest was in peaceful sleep. She shook her head and began making her way deeper into the forest. Once again she stopped, listening to every sound the forest made. Not to far, she heard the sound of a bird fluttering away. A smirk passed her lips, bringing her hand down to her hip, she gripped onto her knife knowing soon enough she would use it. She stood still, waiting for the Creature to show it self. On her left a pair of golden brown eyes watched her every move. Slowly it began to walk towards her, she stood still knowing if she moved it would attack. Her grip tightened on the knife as she held her head down. Huge furry dark brown paws stood just in front of her. The wolf circled her, surveying his new dinner.
"My aren't you a beauty" The Wolf growled, still circling her. She held her breath, the wind picked up blowing her cape around her, she smirked.
"Why thank you kind wolf" she said, her words flowing in the wind. The wolf stopped, stunned that she had heard his thoughts.
"kind? Why love...I'm the baddest of them all" He snapped, She held her head up letting her hood fall, the wind picked up her auburn hair blowing it back.
"the baddest? why you must show me!" she said, she slowly pulled her knife out.
The wolf let out a laugh. Pacing back and forth he lunged for her, quick on her feet she slipped past him plunging her knife into his back. He let out a yelped, then growled at her. his anger, climaxed as she dodged each of his blows. He huffed at her then came at her again, his paws swiped her face, knocking her down to the ground. she picked her self up wiping away the blood on her cheek. she eyed her basket, that lay just on the other side of the wolf. He lunged for her once more, but this time she was ready. The wolf leaped in the air, just as she slid under him. Back up her feet she ran to her basket, with the wolf right on her tail she knew she couldn't make it. she turned around to face the wolf, he charged for her ,pulling all of his energy to take her down. once he leaped into the air, so did ruby, she grabbed the end of her cape and threw it across her then grabbing it again wrapping it around the wolfs neck. she tugged and tugged, harder each time until the wolf barely moved. she then ran to her basket taking out her bow & arrow and pointing at the wolf. she had already wasted so much time playing tag with the him that she forgot that his pack may be near by. she shot at him until he no longer moved. picking up her basket she ran to the wolf's limp body and retrieved her arrows.
She ran deeper and deeper into the forest until she could no longer drag her weight. She walked further, her basket in hand. her stomach growled in hunger, and the sky threatened her with rain. she needed shelter. she walked and walked and walked for what felt like hours. her mouth began to dry from the thirst, she body ached. not far off she heard the sound of a waterfall. picking her pace up she followed the sound, until she caught sight of a lake just on the other side of the forest.
When she reached the lake she gulped down the icy cold water, when she had enough she looked around to find a place to stay for the night. she walked the side of the lake, then spotted an abandoned cabin not too far away. she kept her basket close as she walked up the creaking stairs. she knocked once, then twice to which she heard no reply. she opened the door and walked in, the cabin was small but spacious. one side had a wooden fireplace, a small table and chair next to it, and the other a tiny metal bed. she settled her things down, then eyed the fireplace. the cabin was cold, but lighting a fire could also bring predators. Werewolves traveled in packs, and to kill one means to be hunted by the others. once she decided to just fight the cold off she laid down on the cold bed and wrapped her self in her cape. she laid there, listening to the birds chirp and the owls hoot. she lids became heavy and she finally drifted off to sleep.
