The brightly lit sun glistened on the soft winter snow. A bird flustered away, chirping as it flew around the awoken forest. Ruby lay on her back, her eyes glued to the ceiling, she looked across the small room, and placed her bare feet on the cold wooden floor. The warmth of the sun sneaked in from the opened window, cooking up the small cabin. Ruby opened her basket, that laid on the table and took out the roll of bread she had snatched from the market the town back. Now dry, the bread felt hard under her teeth. She finished the bread then gathered her things for travel. She opened the broken down door and stopped in her track, just outside the door was a small basket filled with berries, and fruits. Someone knew she was here, she closed the cabin door, and began running. She ran, not really knowing where she was headed.
"WAIT!" a voice behind her yelled, she nearly jumped from her skin, but she didn't stop, she ran harder, faster.
The voice belong to a male, just about her age, with beautiful golden brown eyes, broad shoulders with toned muscles. He had long legs, using them to block ruby from running any further. Her eyes widened when she saw the stranger in front of her, he tempted her to run to him, but she knew better. She turned to the right running even faster then she thought she could. She looked behind her, and found her self alone. She had run him off. She smile but kept running, not looking down, she tripped over a root of a tree.
"Don't try and move it, you might of twisted it." A voice said behind, the same voice that chased her off. She turned her head to him stunned that he had yet again caught up to her. He was fast, and absolutely gorgeous. He knelt down next to her and examined her ankle. He turned it side to side, which shot pain in her ankles, she bit her lip hard, the taste of metal filled her mouth as blood poured from her split lip.
"You sprained it, you can't walk on it if you want it to heal." He said, he place his hand underneath her legs and on the small of my back. He lifted her up and started heading back to the cabin.
"What are you doing?! I can walk!!" Ruby yelled, she tried to pull herself out of his arms, but he just held her tighter against his chest.
"It won't heal if you walk on it. Let me just help you....please." he pleaded, Ruby simply nodded her head, and he started walking.
Her head against his chest, the smell of him invaded her nose. He smelled like the forest as if he was part it, the smell was so intoxicating Ruby leaned even closer. They had reached the cabin, when the snow started to fall.
He placed her gently on the bed, Ruby rubbed both her hands together to heat them up.
"Here let me see your ankle." He said, he knelt in front of her and slowly slid my skirt up to her thigh. His long fingers brushing her soft skin. "Might i ask why a beautiful girl like you is alone in these parts of the woods " he said as he ripped a piece of cloth from his shirt, exposing the tone body that matched the muscles.
"I'm searching for someone" Ruby answered watching the stranger carefully as he brushed her beige skin sliding his fingers down her thigh to her ankle. She'd never been this close to a man, a handsome one at that. He slid her shoes off her feet and began wrapping her foot along with her ankle.
"well that should do it!" he said placing her foot gentle back down on the ground. "I'm no doctor but best keep off that foot for a while." He looked up at her waiting for her to say something, standing up he brushed his hands on his pants."You wont be finding anyone out here for miles, the next town up is about a days travel." He fell silent, watching Ruby carefully. "Mind i ask who exactly you are searching for?" Ruby looked up at him, studying him before she passed a smirk on her lips.
"curiousity killed the cat you know." she said
"Ahh but satisfaction brought it back" He responded back to her, Ruby laughed softly to herself.
"We should get some wood for the fire before the sun sets" Ruby said pulling her self up from the bed, she realized it was a bad idea when pain shot her foot and knocked her back down onto the bed. She looked up and noticed that he was now by her side.
"you okay there?" She gave him a nodded, and he let her go. "Why dont I go get some wood and you rest you foot." he suggested. He hadn't waited for her answer he was out the door before she said a word.
