Chapter  1

“Alex! Wake up, it’s time for school sweetie!” my Mom tells me.

I just groan, I stayed up so late reading updates on wattpad and the last thing I want to do is wake up and go to school.

“Can I stay home?” I beg giving my mom a puppy dog face. It normally never works but it worth a try.

“No. Now get up and get ready you have 20 minutes before you need to leave.” Darn.

I slowly get out of bed and walk to my bathroom. I’m an only child so I get it all to myself. I turn on the shower get undressed and let the hot water run over my body, leaving my hair up I attempt to scrub away all my tiredness. It doesn’t work.  Grumbling I get out of the shower and pick out my outfit. I decide on a purple cardigan with a white tank underneath, a dark pair of skinny jeans and my sperry’s.

I decided to leave my dark reddish-brown curly hair up in a messy bun. And put on mascara. I don’t normally put on a lot of makeup because it makes my freckles look weird.

As I walk into the kitchen for my routine breakfast of a cinnamon bagel with cream cheese my mom gives me a frown.

“What?” I ask her.

“Well, you’re wearing a cardigan, again.” She replies.

“Yeah, so?”

“Well, you wear them an awful lot.”

“Mom, you know I’m obsessed with cardigans! I just can’t get enough of them!”

“Yeah I guess. But, here’s your breakfast.” My mom says handing me my bagel.

“Thanks! See ya later!” I say as I give her a kiss on her cheek and run out the door.

The bell for homeroom rang right as I walked through the door. I sit down in the back of the room and can’t wait for lunch. Because me and the librarian are gonna talk more about the books we read over the summer. Even though its already two weeks into the school year we still have to catch up on all the books. My parents think it’s sad that I spend my lunch with the school librarian, but that’s what happens when you don’t have any other friends.

*Lunch*

When I walk into the library I automatically know something’s not right because there was no music playing. I know it sounds weird because libraries are supposed to be quiet. But, nobody but me and some teachers actually uses the library so she needs something to keep her from dying of boredom.

“Mrs. Carrow?” I ask looking around to try and find her.

Nothing. That’s weird, because she never misses a day of school. Even though shes not here I decide to sit down and read. Im reading Cinder. It’s a really good book, and of course Mrs. Carrow recommended it.

Of course I get lost in the book. That always happens to me. But its not a bad thing, well I don’t think it is because I don’t have anyone to talk to anyways.

*End Of The Day*

When I walk up to my house at the end of the day I know something wrong. Because my daads car is here. He’s never home when I get home.

When I walk in I yell “Mom, Dad?” and go into the kitchen to look for them. There they are seated at the table whispering harshly at each other. “Hey,” I say and they look up stopping their conversation in its tracks.

“Hi sweety,” my Mom says

“We need to talk” adds my Dad with an unreadable expression.
