The Silent Countryside

When I woke up, it was daylight and I heard the back car door open. So, I peered out the window to see my grandma gathering my things out of the car. Then I sat up straight and saw a rickety old house with a nice view of the mountains. I hadn't been in my grandma's house in a long time, so I felt a little strange."Oh, your up! I almost brought all the bags out of the car and inside, so you can go ahead and start unpacking!" I got up and opened the truck door, then I got out and went inside. It felt colder inside the house, but the screen door was left open, so I still felt the warm breeze from outside. Summer meant no school, but it still wasn't my favorite season (mostly because it is usually so hot). While I was   walking upstairs, I thought about my parents and what I would be doing right now if they weren't well... dead. Once I got to my room, I put my bags down. I lied down on the dusty, squeaky bed feeling nauseas and dizzy. I closed my eyes, and suddenly, I was in a car! The silver Kia car! I sat up, and saw my parents in the front of the car. They were wearing the same fancy clothes they were when they left that night. Mom wore a sliver dress with a single string of pearls. Dad wore a black tuxedo with black shiny shoes to match. "Mom! Dad!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. They didn't turn around or even flinch. Suddenly a red truck pulled out in front of us. Our car swerved out of control and rolled over multiple times. I sat up from the dusty, squeaky bed, startled. The room was darker than before, and I could see a beautiful sunset in the horizon. I rubbed my eyes and walked down to the kitchen. "Hey Sleeping Beauty! Get enough rest?" Grandma quietly laughed at herself. She was cutting up celery for the pot of soup that was sitting on the stove. The kitchen table was covered with stacks of grocery bags from the market down the street. The chairs were full of bags too. I grew hungry smelling the soup cooking. The strong smell of onion took up most of the smell of the soup. My stomach rumbled of the thought of having food. "You're stomach seems to know what's up." Grandma replied. I nodded in agreement. I agreed, and grew hungrier every second. I walked into the living room thinking about the nightmare I had. "What did it mean?" A single tear ran down my rosy freckled cheek. I wiped it away, but more tears started to come. I couldn't help myself from the uncontrollable flood of tears. I lied down on the couch and silently cried to myself. "If only that truck hadn't pulled out in front of them. Or maybe I should've stopped them from going. But who could tell the future?"
