I don't really know what to put.
Hi. Read.
Apparently by 'bf' she had meant best friend. Also, apparently best friends take each other out on dates. Listen to me, I'm not even kidding about this. She let her guy best friend take her out on a date. There was no hesitation in her answer, and she even called him romantic! What was the deal with that? Was he friendzoned? Was there something that Annie wasn't telling me about her and this guy? This is another reason why girls are confusing as hell... letting their guy best friends taking them out on dates? Sure, not all girls do that but I just --
You know what? That's besides the point.
Annie and I were sitting on yet another park bench. We hung out so much that people would think that we're dating. Trust me, I would beg to just date Annie, but I don't know. So many things get in the way.
We were just chatting about pretty much nothing. It seemed like we were just spilling words and sentences that came from the top of our heads to keep the conversation going.
She giggled when I told some sort of moderately funny joke. God, that damn giggle could kill me. It's so adorable. Though, I think that if there was the exact same giggle coming from a completely different person, I would still think that Annie's was the most adorable. She just makes the whole giggle come together.
"You're really funny, Hunter!" she exclaimed. The phrase from her that I have heard one too many times; though, it wasn't like I was complaining or anything. Compliments from Annie were the best types of compliments.
"Annie," I started, stretching out her name, "you've told me that a billion times already, could you come up with any other compliments so that I could be flattered to the fullest?" I teased, and she pushed me lightly by the shoulder.
"Hunter!" she playfully scolded, and I smiled lightly.
I swear, every time she says my name, no matter how she says it, I always fall in love with her a little more than I had the last time.
"What?" I said with mock innocence. She pushed me in the shoulder, yet this time, harder, and I chuckled.
"What are you chuckling about, Hunter, huh? Huh?" she said, and the conversation of ours was quickly becoming playful. We both laughed out loud, even though we hadn't necessarily done much. After we were done having our fits of laughing, I heard four (yet only three seemed important) words that made my heart a) jump, b) skip a beat, c) beat faster, or d) all of the above?
Wow! You guessed it, all of the goddamn above!
You know what she said?
"Wow, I love you."
That seriously surprised me. But... after thinking for a few seconds, she had probably said it to be friendly. The thought of that just shattered me to a million pieces. Only because it was probably true.
Her phone started ringing a few seconds after the words had stopped ringing through my mind and ears, and she swiftly got her phone out of her small little purse then answered the call.
"Hello?" she said, and a smile quickly appeared on her face after a reply had been heard on the other side of the phone.
"Hello!" she repeated, this time more enthusiastic once she knew who was on the line. She gave me a look and signal as to say, 'one second, Hunter,' and walked to stand behind a tree.
That left me to listen to her end of the conversation, and to just sit back and relax, which wasn't that fun, since Annie wasn't sitting right next to me.
I heard her say, "Alright, see ya!" and saw her end the phone call. She turned back to me with an apologetic look on her face.
"Hunter, I've gotta go. Cole... well, do you know Cole?" she asked me, and I shook my head no. "Oh, well, Cole, my best friend, had just asked me to hang out with him. I couldn't turn him down, now, could I? That would be really rude. We've been spending hours together anyways! See ya later, alright? Love you!" and she skipped off.
Love you!
Love you!
Love you!
The words rang through my head, and I knew they meant nothing to her, but they meant everything to me.
Why would girls do this to guys?
