"Earth is done for."

We all looked at Lonot like he'd just grown a third head.

"Lonot, You must keep hope." Ambrosine stated.

He spun around and looked at her angrily, "Did you not hear it? Do you not have ears? Hope is dead! She is dead! How do you not understand that? Hope is gone. Earth is done. We are all dead."

His words seethed from between his teeth like foaming venom. We all sat silently, stunned by his anger. Since we were human we too are affected by the turns of virtue. It had been a week since Umay had died. I had healed up nicely but I cannot say the same for Lonot. His emotional wounds were still open and bleeding.

Merlaner stood, "Do you not see what they are doing to you? If you continue in this behavior you will become Chirag yourself! We all know what she meant to you and to all of us for that matter." He motioned around the bunker. "But in these times we need to live for here and now. If we can do that we can accomplish all. But we must keep Umay's hope still alive in our hearts, for there is no one else who will."

Lonot nodded slowly, "Your right of course. I can't argue with the god of wisdom. I just wish there was something I could have done..."

Dione stood and walked over, "We understand. But you can do something now, honor Umay and her wishes."

He nodded. "So...how do we counter the Vise's attacks? We can't in high hopes..." Lonot cleared his throat, "...think that we can win this without the survivors having something to believe in."

Merlaner banged his staff on the floor indignantly, "Than we give them something to believe in!"

We all began chattering in confused tones until I noticed Ambrosine sitting in her chair silently, staring at the ground.

"Ambrosine."

All the gods went silent.

I looked straight into her milky white pupils. "You know what he means don't you?"

She gave a heavy sigh.

"Yes. I believe I do."

The goddess hefted herself from the seat. With downcast eyes she spoke to us.

"Many centuries ago, at the beginning of time, I was in trusted with an ancient prophecy that would save or destroy human race."

She closed her eyes. The room darkened.

"The death of one,

The death of many,

Till the death of all terry.

5 must give the heart away,

where the gold will forever lay.

The black to clench their burning thirst,

With the blood of one forever cursed."

No one spoke for a long time. Thoughts drifted. What did it all mean?

Dione was the first to speak.

"Ambrosine, you have had a lot of time to think this through. What do you know of this prophecy?"

She looked at us, calmness in her eyes. "It means that we need someone to take on the task of being a goddess."

"Who?" I asked. "All of us are already goddesses."

No one knew what to say until wisdom shed some light.

"We need a human. Pure of heart and waiting for a glimmer of hope." Merlaner stepped in.

"A...human?" Lonot sputtered almost in disgust.

Ambrosine nodded.

"Do you know how crazy this is?" Lonot stated. "Can we fill Umay's place just like that?" He said while snapping his fingers.

"We have too or there won't be a place to fill anymore!" I told him.

The others mumbled their agreement.

I turned to Ambrosine, "What do we do first?"

The ground began to rumble and shake. Pounding was heard from above us. The growl of a large animal resounded through the bunker.

The only one of us that didn't look panicked was Ambrosine. She simply stood there shaking her head.

We heard a crash from the stairs.

Silence.

All in a moments notice, the door flew to the back of the room crumpling against the wall.  When the dust settled there in the door stood a massive white Draken. I couldn't believe it.

The creature stood there for a moment just looking at us. Its' large blue eyes locked on Ambrosine. The wings expanded to their full seize. It's long graceful tail curled from side to side, both beautiful and horrifying at the same time.

We froze with terror as the creature barreled into the room. It launched itself toward Ambrosine pinning her to the ground with its blood stained talons and raised its' head to strike. We moved for our weapons but it was too late.

Life seemed to stop. The monsters breath came slowly. Its head started to snake down towards Ambrosine's small body.

She looked at me with those forever calm eyes and mouthed, "It will be ok."
