It's getting close to midnight. I'm starting to dose off. Chloe is already asleep on the couch. I get up and put a blanket on her. I tip toe away hoping that she won't wake up. I walk out of the living room and walk into the kitchen. I decided to make some late night coffee when I heard three knocks at the door. Each knock was about a second apart, so it sounded suspicious. With each step I take towards the door I start to get more and more nervous. Who would be at my door at this time?

Especially when my house is in the middle of nowhere basically. I reach for the lock on the door and I jump to the sound of the doorbell. I quickly flipped the outside light switch and looked out the door window. No one is there. I grabbed a flashlight and dart out the door. I shine the bright beam of light at every possible place for someone to hide. I even had the idea that someone was on the roof and shined the light at the top of the house. Having no luck, I shrug off the possibility of kids playing a prank and walk back inside.
I turn off the light and lock the door. While walking to my room I hear something moving outside of the door. By this time, I don't care anymore. So I walked to my room and went to bed.
