Author's note: Hey ppl i just wanted to let you know tht the start of this is kind of boring but the first chapters of my stories always are because i struggle with setting up the characters and their world. and the background story is a little complicated. The prolouge isnt necessary unless the reader wants to know exactly why the gangs exists but it isnt extremley relevant to the story so feel free to just skip it and go straight to chapter one. I know the start is slow but if u give it a chance it gets better <3 thanks

PROLOUGE:

vvvvvv Not important only read if you feel like it, this bit is long and complicated so yeah vvv

Violet never forgot the time she realized wasn’t a game.

They wore their colours and she wore hers. It was the way it had always been. She was too young to get answers. She was too young to even realize she hadn’t gotten any.  Her father had gripped the back of the couch and couldn’t seem to tare his eyes away from the girls that stared back at him. He hovered around and eventually forced himself to sit down before burying his head in his hands. Her father, Theodore Tinder... was crying.  After what seemed like an eternity he forced the words out between heavy sobs.

“Your’e mother is dead. They killed her.”

It wasn’t just small sobs and quiet sniffs. Her father drew in giant breaths and wailed painfully amongst tears of the purest grief.

From then on Violet hated them. She knew it wasn’t a game. But if it was, then she sure as hell wasn’t going to let them win.

The two families had always been feuding and it was a well known fact that neither family was sure how or why the feud had started. But then it got ugly. then it got dangerous.

The assembly of the gangs had all started started with the sudden death of Violet’s mother, Elnora Tinder. A death which her husband, Theodore Tinder strongly believed to the work of a man named Alastair McCartney whose supposed hatred and jealousy of the Tinder families wealth had driven him to criminal insanity. The police didn’t see the connection but Theodore was sure it was there.  After the death of his wife and the lack of support from the police and media, he fell into despair. The families money began to wither. It was only when the McCartney family itself began to rise that Theodore stopped taking his own family and success for granted. As both families grew in wealth and success they moved to the richest street in the whole of their city. But both men continued to hate each other and both refused to move. So the street fell under the reign of two households. Theodore Tinder had his families sir-name legally changed to ‘Red’ to remind Alastair McCartney that the blood of his wife remained on his hands forever. To match him, Alastair changed his own families last name to ‘Green’ to send a message to Theodore that he was blinded by the green of pure jealousy. That is how the gangs started. They grew larger as cousins and family friends joined the feud. And so began, the Gangland of Red and Green.

Chapter One- The Climbing of the Wall.

Alison wore the guilty look as though it was a stylish accessory. Something to be envied. It suited her. It was her usual attire anyway.

“What have you done now?”

Not surprisingly, someone else had noticed her expression.

Alison looked back at Bronte with false innocence.

“I don’t know what you mean.”

Violet ignored them both. She was used to Alison’s tricks. The best thing to do was wait for her mischief to show itself without any intervention.

Somewhere in another room, a loud clock chimed.

As Vi reached for her book she noticed that the room had gone completely silent. With her hand still hovering above the book she was reaching for Vi looked up at Alison. Then at Bronte. She slumped back in her chair. As she half expected, both girls were staring at her intently. After 17 years of being a ‘Red’, Violet knew what the awkward silence meant.
