The Doctor and Alice

Chapter 3

Alice looks at the two of them curiously, and then wraps her arms around a pillar in preparation of the turbulence.

There is a whiting sound of the TARDIS landing. The Doctor grins at Alice. "We are now on Aliphantionaqulous, a planet where the ground is all ice and you ice-skate everywhere but air is warm! Can you believe that! The atmosphere is rich with..." He starts rambling about the planet. Alice curiously walks toward the door.

She smiles in anticipation and opens the door, then breaks out into a large grin. "Oh my g*d. This is amazing." She is in awe as she looks around.

"You may need these," the Doctor says from behind her. He hold out a pair of ice-skates. "Do you know how to use those, sweetheart? I could teach you..." Jack offers.

She doesn't necessarily want the help, but she cannot ice skate, so she nods in embarrassment after taking the skates from the Doctor.

He points to a bench where she could sit to put them on and whispers, "if he bugs you to much either slap him or yell at him."

She smiles and nods, then goes over.

Jack glares at the Doctor and makes a was-that-really-necessarily face. The Doctor nods and Jack sticks his tongue out before going to put his skates on.

Alice laughs at the exchange and sits down and puts them on, then gets up unsteadily.

The Doctor goes over to her and helps her towards the door. "Wait hear while I get my skates on."

"Okay." She tries to move around a little, inevitably failing and falling.

The Doctor finishes putting his skates on and goes to help her. He helps her up then falls down dragging her with him. They both start laughing.

"I'm sorry I'm so miserable at this!" Alice said while laughing and trying to get up at same time.

They finally stand up and the Doctor grabs her hand. "All right now step onto the ice." She puts one foot out and wobbles gripping his hand tighter but steady’s. "Now the other."

She does as instructed, and manages to stand. She smiles and slowly takes a step.

"Put one foot in front of the other but when you do, push out. Like this," he glides out a ways in front of her and then comes back. "It's alright if you don't get it. It takes a lot of prac-" she glides past him. He turns around and hurries to catch up with her. "You know there is a certain science to not falling. It's an art form that-" he trips over his own shoe and falls on his butt.

She bursts out laughing then goes over and helps him up. "How long has it been since you did this?"

He scratches the back of his neck, "Uh."

Alice laughs. "You don't even know? How old are you?" She asked, expecting mid-thirties to early forties.

"Around the 900 area," he replies sheepishly thinking he's rather young for having regenerated 10 times already

Her jaw drops. "What." Then she realizes that he has a time and space travel machine, and it seemed not that extreme. "Does that mean you're an alien?" She asked, less surprised.

"Yeah," he blushes at her surprise. "HE'S A TIMELORD!" Jack shouts from the TARDIS.

She looks his direction and is confused again. "How- What is a Time Lord?" She asks skeptically, looking him down again.

"A Time Lord is a creature from the planet Gallifrey but, uh, I'm the last one. Just like she's the last TARDIS.

She looks from him to the TARDIS and back. She thinks for a long moment.
