Isabella's P.O.V:
I woke up with a start.
Sunlight peeped through a gap in the curtains. It took me a moment to remember where I was.
When I did remember, I sagged a little.
What I wouldn't give for the days when Dark Shifters didn't know your name, never mind your address. When I wasn't being stalked by psychopathic fangirls. When the insides of my head weren't decorating my bedsheets.
Yes, those were the days.
I glanced at the clock on Ceren's bedside table, and saw that we were a few hours late for school. I decided to put it at the back of my mind and worry about it later.
Suddenly, a truly horrible smell came my way. I sniffed, and identified it as the smell burning sausages and hair.
"Ceren!", I hissed, shaking her. "Ceren!"
"Huh? Wha-? Wassamattuh?"
"Something's burning!"
She squinted at me for a moment, then my words sank in. "What?!"
We both leapt out of bed and clattered downstairs. When we got to the kitchen, we skidded to a halt.
"Oh no, not you!", I groaned.
"Bella! I love you too!", cried Demitri, enveloping me into a hug.
"What's burning?", Ceren asked, tugging me free.
"Uh, that'd be us", said Raven sheepishly. His hair was singed.
"Stupid bloody sausages", Lola growled, as the saucepan she was brandishing stopped smoking, and burst into flame. Within seconds, the kitchen was filled with smoke. Demitri located the saucepan and put the fire out.
"Why the hell", Ceren spluttered, "Are you cooking sausages in our kitchen?"
"I told my mum about what we did last night and she got really angry", Lola muttered sulkily. "She told me to make it up to you by cooking you breakfast or something."
"And instead you set our kitchen on fire", I said.
"Uh...yeah."
I sighed.
"Tell you what", Ceren said, "Why don't you just go to the shops and buy us something we actually want?"
"Okay...what do you want?"
"Chocolate chip cookies. And some more sausages."
"Fine", Lola said. She got up and left, slamming the door.
Me and Ceren sat down, feeling exausted. Raven and Demitri sat down opposite us.
"So, how long have you known that you're an Invi?", he asked.
There was a perplexed silence.
"A what?", Ceren said.
"Someone with special blood and skin", Demitri answered.
"Oh, there's a name for me now?", I said.
"There was always a name for you", said Raven.
"But how comes? My parents couldn't find a name for me."
"Your parents aren't royalty."
"Oh, you too?", Ceren said.
Raven stared at her. "What do you mean, you too?"
I kicked Ceren under the table.
"Oh, uh, Lola said she was royalty", Ceren floundered.
"Oh. Okay."
