It was a peaceful night, children asleep, parents tucking them in telling stories and singing lullabies. One thing changed that, two gunshots that woke the whole town. Everyone ran to the house where the scream was heard. The mayor of the town knocked. The door fell down with a blast. The mayor in front was worried for the family who lived here. They walked in the house looking around for people. Some went upstairs, some to the basement, and some stayed on the same floor. While searching, everyone heard a shriek on the top floor. The mayor ran upstairs with some people. He looked at where the woman screamed at and covered his mouth. A man and a woman were shot lying on their bed. The mayor could not stand looking at the scene and lead the people outside. While he was going down, he saw a man sitting down on the rocking chair. He looked closely, he was dead. His chest was stabbed. He was holding a gun at his left hand and a bloody knife on the right. "What happened here? " he said. He didn't want to see the house anymore and wanted to get out. He called the people from the basement to get out from the house now. "But mayor, come look. " said one person. He came down and saw a little boy, probably around the age of 8. He had multiple injuries all around his body and a stab wound in his stomach. "What should we do mayor? " said one man. The mayor looked at the child again. "We'll take him to the hospital, but we must hurry, he could die in a matter of minutes." Everyone hurried out. the man who found the infant took him to the hospital with the mayor.

While in the hospital the two started talking about what had occurred in the town. "Mayor, do you know who did this to the boy's family?" he said. The mayor sighed and said "Unfortunately, no." The man was quiet for a while. Then, a nurse came out from the emergency room. "Who's Mr. Richard here?" she said. The Mayor stood up and said, "I am. What is the problem?" The Nurse shook her head. "The boy will be fine but he has to stay in the hospital for a while. Your son is one lucky boy." she said. The mayor shook his head. "I am not the boy's father. His family passed away." the mayor said. "Oh. My condolences. Are you going to take responsibility for the child Mr. Richard?" the nurse asked. "No. It is probably better if we take him to the orphanage." said the mayor. "Umm... Sir, if I may say something?" said the man next to the mayor who was ignored all throughout their conversation. "Sure, what is it?" said the mayor. "If it could be possible, may I be the boys guardian?" he said. The Mayor looked at him in shock. The nurse looked at the man and said, "That is possible sir but are you sure? It will take a while." He looked at the Nurse and said "I'm sure." The mayor was surprised."But you don't know anything about this boy." the mayor said. "I know sir, but I have longed to have a child, I have no family and I live alone. I promise I will protect him and take care of him." the man looked at the mayor. The mayor had no choice. He sighed and said, "I guess there is nothing I can do." The man smiled and thanked the mayor. The nurse asked for the man to follow her. "Wait!" said the mayor. The man turned around. "What's your name?" said the mayor. "Robin sir. Robin Conner."
