A few minutes later, Scott and Luke arrived at the public library. "Luke, If this is connected to the case, we could be the ones to solve it!" Scott said. "That's not important to me now Scott, what's important is that I read the case." Luke said. "Why did you get serious with the Frederick's case anyways?" Scott said. Luke took out a small picture from his pocket. He gave it to Scott. In the picture, two boys were standing at the bottom of the statue in their school. But the other boy's face was ripped off. "That was also inside the notebook. I'm not sure who was the boy that got his face ripped off is but the other one I'm sure of." Luke said. "Wait... you know the guy in the picture?" Scott asked. Luke replied, "Yeah, he's my dad." Scott's eyes widened. He shouted, "You're dad!?" "Dude, keep it down a bit. We're inside the library." Scott saw that some of the people in the library looking at them. "Sorry man. I was just surprised. Your dad might know something about the case!" Scott said in a hush tone. "He might Scott, just might." Luke said.
Scott and Luke where walking up the staircase in the library. "Oh Yeah! Luke, where did you get the notebook anyways?" Scott said. "Inside my locker. There was a wooden cabinet placed inside. When I opened it up, there was the notebook." Luke replied. "By the way, where did you find the Fredericks case?" Scott stopped walking when they reached the third floor. "I put it in a special place in the library, come with me." Scott said and lead the way. Scott stopped infront of the Mystery section. "Here it is, my sanctuary." "I don't understand, why did you put it in the mystery section? Someone might find it for themselves." Luke asked. Scott pointed towards Luke and headed towards a shelf. "It's because I put it somewhere no one never looks through." "Where?" Luke asked. "The last book on the bottom shelf. Poor little guy, no one ever tries to read you." Scot said sarcastically. "Don't be silly, that's the first book I take in my dads library." Luke said. Scott was looking around the bottom shelf when he suddenly jumped up. "Luke, it's not there." "What do you mean it's not there." "Literally! The Fredericks case isn't here!" Scott was panicking, pacing back and forth holding his hair up his forehead. "Maybe you just misplaced it." Luke said. "Nope. If there is one thing I don't stink at that would be hiding things." "Okay, so now we have a missing document and it's almost eighteen hundred and I can't be out later than twenty hundred." Luke replied. "Wait, twenty... you're using that time format?" Scott said. "Yeah, who doesn't?" Luke replied a little confused. "Never mind that. This is a bummer, I was so excited to finally find another person interested in something I like. I'm sorry Luke, I really wanted to give you those files." Scott kept apologizing to Luke when suddenly, someone called them out.
"Did you just say files?" he said. Luke and Scott looked at each other then looked back at the guy. "My apologies, I'm the assistant librarian here. While I was fixing up this section I found an odd envelope stuck next to the bottom shelf..." he was about to continue when Scott cut him off. "That's the Frederick's case!" Scott said out loud. Luke made a shhh sound and said, "Scott! Be quiet." Scott apologized and looked at their surroundings. Everyone was reading, not bothering them at the top. "May I ask what your name is?" Luke said. "It's Leo." he said. "Well Leo, we need that envelope. Do you know where we could find it?" Luke asked. "It's right here." Leo said. Taking out an old yellow envelope from his satchel. He gave it to Scott who rushed towards him. "This is great! I thought I've lost you!" Scott said hugging and kissing the envelope. "Thanks Leo, we owe you one." Luke said. "No problem, I was about to put it in the lost and found booth anyways. You could actually keep it." Leo said. Scotts eyes widened, he turned towards Leo and said, "Wait, you can take this out of the library?" "Well yeah, it's not part of the library in the first place and there hasn't been any missing documents in the archives so it's actually not out property. I can't believe you didn't take it out earlier." Scott's jaw dropped. Luke snickered. "Aww, come on Luke." Leo was about to leave when he looked at a checklist he was holding. "Oh sorry, I forgot! I listed it in the lost and found so you have to sign the release form for you to be able to take it out." Leo said. Scott and Luke followed Leo to the librarians office.
After a while, Luke and Scott finally got the envelope. "Okay, there's still one hour before my curfew so we have to do this quick." Luke said. "Okay, I'll start with this folder." Scott said taking out a dusty brown folder from the envelope. Suddenly, something fell out from the folder. "What's this?" Scott said picking up something from the ground. "Ummm..... Luke?" Scott said. "What is it Scott?" Scott showed the thing that fell to him. "This is...."
