part one ; chapter one

MELANIE TURNED THE SHOWER OFF, and pulled back her shimmery, pink curtain to reach her towel.

As she stepped out, small droplets of water dropped onto the floor, making it a bit wet.

Melanie wiped her body down and did her regular morning routine before walking out of the bathroom into her dorm room.

She pulled out her Hogwarts uniform and listened as her roommates talked.

"Have you seen any of the marauders lately?"

"Yeah, not as much as I'd like to though."

"Why, do you have a crush on one of them?"

Melanie's roommates laughed as they talked about the group of boys more, leaving the room.

"That's classified information."

Melanie breathed a sigh of relief, and started to get dressed. She silently brushed her teeth, and did her hair before leaving to go to the noisy and immense Great Hall.

Melanie sat in her usual spot at the Hufflepuff table and poured herself some strawberry milk. As she did so, the marauders came from out of nowhere, and sat next to her.

Her face immediately screwed up in confusion, and she started to feel angry.

"What are you sitting here for?" she asked.

"Because we want to. Is there a problem?" Peter responded.

Not really thinking correctly because it was the beginning of the school year, Melanie let her anger get the best of her, and she responded harshly.

"Don't try to impress your friends Peter. You're the weak link of the group, and your boys aren't always around you, so watch who you talk to."

Peter quickly looked down and was quieter than he was when he sat at the table, obviously embarrassed.

"Now Melanie," James Potter started, about to reprimand her.

"You know that's not how you should be talking to Peter-"

"James, don't even talk to me about it," she said cutting him off and picking up her bag and a small plate filled with bacon.

"I'll apologize when he gets some manners," she mumbled, angrily leaving the Great Hall, and heading straight to her dorm room.
