MELANIE SAT IN THE EMPTY CLASSROOM, staring at her word-filled paper and her oil pastel filled art book. Coming out of the Forbidden Forest in the late afternoon, she had been found by Filch, and he had given her a detention. She now sat, enjoying the fact that she actually had time to write again.

Just as she started to get comfortable, another student with long, jet black hair was let in by Filch, and Melanie sighed, already irritated by his presence.

Sirius looked at the girl with the wild, curly hair, and looked back at Filch.

"Can I please serve my detention with McGonagall? I swear I'll never do anything bad again," he asked, pleading.

Filch rolled his eyes and pointed out a seat to Sirius, telling him to sit down.

Sirius sat next to Melanie and for a few minutes, both of them acted civilized and normal. They sat quietly and acted as if they were in detention, but a few minutes into the quietness, Sirius nudged Melanie's arm and pointed at her notebook, telling her to tear out a piece of paper and to hand him a pen.

Melanie rolled her eyes, and did as he said, intrigued as to why he needed her materials. Sirius scribbled somethings down on the paper and passed it back to Melanie in a folded style. She opened the note and read it.

why are you in detention? it read.

Melanie rolled her eyes and responded to the letter.

because i was in the forbidden forest.

She passed the note back to him, and soon, the two passed the note back and forth until they went through three pieces of paper all together. By the time their conversation was about to end, so did their detention, and so the two walked out of the classroom with nothing to say to each other.
