"SINCE WHEN DID YOU WARM UP TO SIRIUS BLACK?" one of Melanie's so-called friends asked her.
Melanie sighed and continued to put food on her plate, ignoring the comment.
"Melanie, did you hear me?" her 'friend' asked.
Throughly concentrated on not listening to the person that was currently working her nerves, Melanie left that space of the table, and moved to sit next to Aiden.
As Aiden ate, talking with her other friends, she looked up at Melanie and covered her mouth as she tried to speak.
"Someone's asking you about Sirius again?" she questioned.
Melanie sat down with a sort of apologetic smile and nodded her head, starting to eat.
Aidan excused herself from her other friends and pulled Melanie over to another, emptier side of the Hufflepuff table.
"What did they ask?"
"Oh you know, the usual. 'Since when did you warm up to Black?' and 'Are the rumors about it true?'. Just a bunch of annoying questions that I'm never going to answer," Melanie responded, eating her food.
Aidan smiled at her and ate some of her food before talking.
"You know, it's not like it's a bad question."
Melanie slowly looked up from her food and her face contorted into one of a fake horror.
"Oh no, not you too."
Aidan laughed as her friend started to fake cry about how her friend had betrayed her.
"I'm just saying that you've been sneaking out of the dorm more, and you don't usually do that because you know how much you love sleep."
"Sleep is love, sleep is life," Melanie said, trying to deflect from continuing the conversation.
"I know that! And that's why it's so weird for you to be sneaking out to meet Sirius Black at the Astronomy Tower."
"I've only done it once!"
"It only takes the once for rumors to start flying."
Melanie pouted as she realized her friend was right.
"I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be cordial with him because you two are cute together, but-"
"No," Melanie sharply cut off her friend.
"Sirius Black and I are in absolutely no one cute together. Do not argue with me on this," she whispered.
Aidan smirked before asking her friend why she was whispering. Melanie had no time to respond before a note was put in her shoulder. She picked up the note, and looked to see Sirius walking down the Great Hall with the Marauders as if nothing happened. She opened the note and read Sirius's writing.
