Before Kai said anything he motioned for me to go inside, and I did as he said I was hypnotized for some reason, and he followed me. He intensly stared at me, still not saying a word.

"Kai?" I whipped around to see my father at the top of the stairs,"How are you?" He made his way down to the living room, I looked back up at Kai who gave me one last look before greeting my father.

"Goodmorning Mr. Lawson, I am good and yourself?" he smiled at him.

"I am very good." He chimed cheerfully. "You didn't go to school today?" He questioned and I was also intrigued to hear his response.

"Oh, I decided to sleep in because I had a really bad headache." He explained.

"Oh okay, well Lily still hasn't gone to school yet and I have to stay at home to watch Lia." My dad looked over at me and then Kai.

"What happened to Lia?" Kai's face had concern written all over it, his eyes suddenly had a longing to see her.

"She has the flu."

"Can I go meet her?" he asked my father.

"Of course you can, Lily you can go lead him to her bedroom." He gave me a smile, and I simply nodded. I started to walk up the stairs and heard his heavy footsteps compared to my dainty silent ones. It felt awkward not speaking to him because we had become so close over the past few days, and suddenly he gave me the silent treatment. I approched Lia's bedroom and stopped to knock on her door, but because I had abbruptly stopped, a 'rock' walked into me from behind. Kai.

I looked back to Kai who's eyes balled out of his sockets. I giggled on the inside but if he wasn't giving me the silent treatment we would both be laughing our butts off. "Lia, Kai is here to see you." I spoke softly but audible for her to hear me.

"Kai? yah" *cough-cough* "C-come in." She struggled to speak before being bombarded by her coughs . Kai and I walked in slowly and I was shocked to see her health worsening from this morning. She was so weak that if you blew on her she would fly away and her skin was pale, the natural blush on her cheeks was gone. Kai neared her and when she sensed him she opened her eyes and looked very jovial to see him. "K-*cough* Kai!" She exclaimed between a short cough. "Hey sweetheart," Kai swept his hand over her forehead. "I just wanted to come by and see how you were." He gave her a heart warming smile, I wish that he did the same earlier on the porch.

"I won't stay too long, you need as much as rest you can get." Lia simply smiled and nodded. He held her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze before leaving, he faced me and was about to leave the room. But something stopped him, he looked back to see that Lia was tugging on his hand that she was still holding. "What happened?" Kai gently questioned her.

"Why won't you talk to Lily?" Lia asked him, barely audible, because if she spoke any louder she would start to cough uncontrollably. I widened my eyes at what she had asked him, I looked down trying to avoid eye contact with Kai because after Lia asked him he looked towards me to look for an answer. But actually, come to think of it, even I don't know why he won't talk to me.

"It's- uh something-you won't understand Lia." He sighed after, and tryed to leave the room, but Lia still held his hand firmly. "Please Lia let me go I don't want you to make me angry." He softly told her.

"I won't let go untill you talk to Lily," She waited for a response and looked over to me for help, but I simply shook my head warning her to let go before he gets mad.

"For me?" She asked him and he brought his attention back to her and with the face she was using would make anyone feel guilty. "Fine." In defeat Kai agreed. "Now please go to sleep." Lia nodded and dozed off with a satisfying smile.

Kai and I made our way downstairs, to see my father sitting at the kitchen table with his files scattered all over the place. "Daddy, are you staying at home with Lia?" He looked over at me at took his glasses off.

"Yup, I guess I am. Your mother will be at the hospital for now but I will be working from home to stay with Lia." he informed me.

"But I thought you closed the firm for the holidays?" I was confused.

"Yes, but sweety I still have work to do." He gave me a smile. "Kai if you don't mind could you drive to school with Lily?" Why did my father ask that question? Why?!

"Sure, My Lawson. I won't mind at all." They exchanged smiles, and I grabbed my bag and put on my winter gear. Kai quickly ran to his house to get his bag and car. I still didn't understand why we needed a car we could've just walked to school it was a 15 minute walk, but we were late so we needed to get there as soon as possible.

I sat in the warm and toasty car seat. There was an awkward silence then Kai decided to speak up.

"About last night-I was acting like a jerk, I shouldn't have yelled at you." He apologized in a low voice.

"When I was in grade 10 Logan went to my high school, like he used to live in my area. We weren't really good friends, we were just 'hi bye' friends. Untill he started to date my baby sister, she was in grade 9, a year difference. I wasn't really a big fan of them being a couple, but Kailee really liked him, and she even had a talk about it with me. I could tell that she was really in love with him so I backed off and gave them their space. But I was still overprotective though. They were dating for 3 months untill-" He paused for a second. I didn't realize how intensly I was staring at him, I didn't even blink.

"Until March 6-" He paused again, I didn't know he had a younger sister, I didn't like where this was going. The way his voice was coming out I could tell he had a lump in his throut. Kai was going to cry, but he kept his tears back. I kept staring at him I couldn't look away, there was so much emotion in the light brown ribbons of his eyes. He kept his eyes on the road.

"M-my baby sister committed suicide." he said this quietly threw gritted teeth. Suddenly everything became blurry, then I realized that I had teared up. I quickly looked down and wipped my tears away with my mittens.

"K-kai i'm sorry." I apologized I felt guilty, even when Kai told me to stop asking him I didn't listen.

"It's ok." he cleared his throut. "That's why I got tensed up in class when I saw Logan, he should be punished for what he did, after all the love, the sleepless nights Kailee had thinking about him, writing things in her diary and me walking in her room while she fantisized about him." He chuckled at that part. "And what she got in return, was him cheating on her?" he questioned himself.

"But you know what, that was the past and this is the present I have to stay strong. Besides, now I have Lia and Liam, and I guess that's why im so attached to Lia. I see Kailee in her.So what more could I ask for?" He looked over to me with his closed mouth heart warming smile. I melted on the inside. What more could he ask for?
