**Flashback**

"Jingle bells, Jingle bells, jingle all the way....."

Everybody sang in unison. I was always in the festive mood, helping my dad with the Christmas lights, baking gingerbread cookies with my mom, decorating the Christmas tree with my siblings. I have a younger sister who is 13, Lia and a younger brother who is 10, Liam. I am 16. Being the eldest I am the role model, I have to show my younger siblings how to be at their best behaviour. When guests are over I talk to my siblings with my eyes, reminding them sometimes "here and there". They are the mischievous type.

"Lia, pass me the mistletoe?"

I asked my sister trying to get past the guests.

"ohhh I know why!" she said it with a teasingtone.

"No! eww it's not what you think. I'm decorating duh."

'last year Christmas'

**Flashback ended**

'Lily, Lily if you could stop day dreaming maybe you would get better grades." Mr. Taylor snapped at me.

"Sorry." I put my head down in embarrassment.

After my chemistry class was done I had lunch. I was so relieved my stomach had been grumbling since first period. My school's cafeteria wasn't the stereo typical kind that would have a mean lunch lady and have the most repulsive kinds of lunch options. Our school's lunch lady, Mary, was a sweet elderly women who cared for all the children in Evandale High school.

"Hey sweet thing!" My best friend forever, even if the whole universe blows up, Trish popped up.

"Hello Trish." I greeted my best friend in a British accent.

We got our lunch and sat down at our usual spot. As Trish and I sat down, our best friend for all eternity Roslyn, we call her Rosy, sat down with us.

"Hi guys!" Rosy really knows how to lighten a place up.

Whenever she joins us she has a peepy tone, in a good way of course. Her smile is so vibrant, even if your having a bad day, it would make you feel better.

"Hey." Trish and I greeted her together.

"So, I heard someone has been daydreaming during class." Rosy directed towards me nonchalantly. Trish started to grin.

"I know I know but its just that i'm so excited about Christmas! I don't know why but I just am."

My eyes widened and I said it with enthusiasm.

"Well there's some bad news guys." Rosy had disappointment written all over her face I knew this was going to be bad.

"When I was at the student council meeting we had a discussion about the Winter dance, and....." Rosy didn't finish her sentence, but for some reason I think I knew what she was going to say.

"No! First the Halloween bash and now the Winter dance?" Why was the universe so unfair!

"I know it sounds bad but the school can't afford it." Rosy explained to me hoping that I would understand.

I looked over to Trish who was stuffing her face with her sandwitch. "Trish! Are you listening?" I exclaimed.

"What?" She said with her mouthfull and looked clueless.

Rosy and I started laughing, Trish joined in.

I plugged in my earphones and listened to Marianas Trench, my iphone read 20% battery I cursed myself not remembering to charge it last night. So I turned my music off and just looked at the blanket of snow covering everywhere I looked. I reached my house and took out my keys, I glanced over to our neighbors house and thought about them. Lia's best friend Sam used to live there. But unfortunatly they had to move to another city. When I unlocked the door my sister Lia came running to me.
