A new year, new victims. I'm standing in the courtyard of the high school, waiting for Gwen. We've been dating for about a year.
"Hey Pasty," I say as Gwen walks up to where I'm standing.
"Hi Duncan." She doesn't seem excited to see me...Nah, it's just cause we're back to school.
"How's my girl?" I say pulling her close. I look at her and then my eyes wander over to where Courtney's standing with Bridgette. She's so pretty...
Gwen looks behind her to where I'm looking and then shoves me off of her. She gets red in the face and looks absolutely ticked.
"Geez, what's the deal?"
"You know what Duncan? I'm absolutely tired of you still obsessing about Courtney! I thought you liked me! It's so obvious you're still in love with her! We're done, Duncan! Done. Over. Through. In case you don't understand that, I'M BREAKING UP WITH YOU!" Gwen says loudly before slapping me in the face and walking away. What just happened? Was I just dumped? Gwen just dumped me! Is it true that I still like Courtney? The annoying C.I.T. that drove me crazy? I look back over at Court. She and Bridgette are trying to carry these giant boxes. I start to walk over there.
"Nice going dude," says Trent. Trent...Gwen's other ex-boyfriend.
"You're one to talk," I retort as I walk a little faster towards Courtney.
"You look like you could use a hand," I say to Court as I take the box from her hands. She glares at me. Typical Court. Oh man how I love those glares...
"I think I can handle it, Duncan. Anyways why don't you help Gwen?" she replies sourly trying to take back the box.
"I'd rather help you, Princess..." I answer, waggling my eyebrows. I hold the box out of her reach behind my back.
"Ugh, I wish you'd stop calling me that!" she huffs. Then realization seems to spread across her face. "What's up between you and Gwen anyways?"
"She dumped me..." I say. "Because I still like you." Her entire body turns red and she and Bridgette share a look. I almost forgot Bridgette was even here. Her lips curl up into a smile, against her will, and her shoulders slacken.
"Duncan... We broke up, a long time ago..." Courtney looks down and hugs her stomach.
"Well, Princess, just consider this me helping a friend." I then grab the last box from her backseat and carry the stack towards the school.
"Fine then. Just head to my locker. You know where it is..." She sighs and then looks at Bridgette. "You coming?"
"Actually I'm going to go catch up with some other people. I promise Ill help you with your campaign later!" Bridgette then walks away and it's just me and Courtney.
"Looks like it's just me and you," I say waiting for her.
"Don't get any ideas. You said it yourself, helping a friend. Nothing more, nothing less." Ooh... 'Nothing less?' She totally still digs me. I can see it in her beautiful brown eyes.
"Ok then. Just tell me what to do with these boxes."
"Let's start with just getting them to my locker," she responds as she walks past me. Even her walking is perfect. Her hips swinging back and forth between steps. What? I can't help but stare. Courtney is just perfect in every way. Perfect body, perfect features, perfect everything. Maybe I am still madly in love with her...
