She's Being Played (A Chloe Lukaisak fanfic)

Chapter 1

Chloe POV

I walked to school today, not in the mood for pleading my dad to drive me.  I spotted Paige talking with Landon, her new boyfriend by the old oak tree.  I was happy for her.  Landon was perfect, cute, funny, polite, he pretty much had anything that you could ever want in a guy.  I watched as he leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips, and Paige smiled.  I waited until he left before I approached the oak tree, not wishing to ruin Paige's happy moments. 

"Hey Pageymac!"  I called once Landon was gone.  She smiled widely.

"Oh my God Chlo!  Did you see what just happened!"  She spilled.

"Yes, congrats gurl!  I'm so happy for you!  So what did he say?"  I asked, as we turned onto Watson Street, the street that Madison High was located on.  One more year and I wouldn't have to walk anymore.

"He said he wants to go on a date with me on Sat!"  We squealed like a bunch of kindergarteners who were just given a lollipop by their crush. 

"Congrats!  We should go shopping tonight, after all, it is Friday!"  I said.

"Okay, meet you at the oak tree right after school.  We can just walk to the Mall."  Paige parted from me to go to first period.  I watched her go.  I turned a corner and bumped right into Josh Hyland.  My books and papers flew everywhere and immediately he knelt down and picked them all up. 

"Sorry Chlo," he smiled that beautiful smile of his. "I'd better look out next time so that there's no traffic jam!"  He chuckled softly and handed me my possessions.  He left to leave me dreaming about his perfectly shaped lips.  I've had a crush on Josh Hyland since the day I met him.  My heart was literally broken when he started to go out with Maddie.  I felt so betrayed by her and Josh.  But then someone told me that Maddie asked him out, so then I didn't feel as bad.  I told Paige about me liking him, and she fully supports me on the idea, at least she says she does.  I sighed as I walked into first period: Science.  I usually hate going into science, but I didn't mind at the moment because I would get to see Josh in second period;he was a Teacher Aid for my math teacher.

When the final bell rang, I raced out of school and down to the oak tree.  "Paigey!" I screamed when I saw her already there.  "How did you arrive before me?"  I playfully nudged her. 

"Well, I saw you busting your butt out of school, so I thought I would race you.  And, I won!"  She smirked, and I stuck my tongue out at her. 

"Ready to go?"  I asked.

"Yeah, I asked my mom to come pick us up, that way we don't have to carry our backpacks."  Paige said.

"Oooh, good idea."  I said, as Kelly pulled up.

"Hey Chlo!" she said as I opened the car door.  "How was school you two?" 

"Great," Paige and I chimed together.

"Oooh, Paige, what about this?"  I asked, holding up a short black dress with a low back and a sash.

"That's cute," she said, taking it from me.  She added it to the pile of clothes by her dressing room stall.  The pile consisted of a navy blue and white pin dot dress, a medium dark green dress with a black lace back, and a cute strapless black and white dress.   Shopping was fun, especially when it was with Paige. 

"Okay, I'm gonna go try these on," she gestured to the pile of dresses. 

"Okay, I'll be here, checking my phone."  I said.  I pulled out my iPhone 5c, the phone my mom gave me for my birthday.  For some reason, I hoped to see a text from Josh.  There usually was never a text from him, but I still kept on hoping, every time my finger pushed the on button.  To my surprise, there was text from Josh.

Josh: Hey Chlo, I was wondering if you

I stopped reading.  Was he going to ask me out?  But that would be cheating, and I would hurt Maddie's feelings.  I held my breath and kept reading.

would pick up some jeans for me.  I need a size eleven.  I heard you were a the mall and had to ask.  I would go myself, but guys don't really go shopping.  I knew you would understand.  Thanks :)

Wow.  What a let down.  I stood up and called to Paige that I was going to get jeans.  Just as I left, another text message lit up my phone. Hopefully, I looked at the screen.

Josh: PS: I will pay you back. ;)

Okay, let down again.  I left and picked out a light wash size eleven jeans from the guys section, and slung them over my arm.  Josh looked better in those kind.  Maddie thinks he looks better in the dark wash.  So, naturally, he wears dark wash all the time.

I walked to the register and paid for them.  Sitting back down in front of the dressing rooms, I refolded the jeans over and over again.  I didn't know exactly why.  I just kept touching them.  Maybe it felt good to touch something of his without feeling awkward about it.  Paige came out of the dressing room, the black and white strapless dress was slung over her arm.  She paid for it and came back to me.

 "Ready?" Paige asked and we left. 

Later, I gave Josh his jeans and he smiled widely.  Maddie was there, and I gave her a small hug.  Light wash, he mouthed when he peeked into the bag Thanks. 

I nodded and smiled a little too warmly.  Maddie watched me with narrowed eyes.  That can't be good.
