POV: Dudley

I remember the day I met Cho Chang like it was yesterday. It was at my cousin Harry Potter’s wedding. I was the only one to attend but my parents refused to go. I thought it was the least I could do for him after all my parents and I put him through. I would never think in a million years that I would fall in love with a witch, let alone someone that Harry knew. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her dark long wavy hair, and those matching hazel eyes. If you look inside of them, it’s as if you are staring into her warm and inviting soul. I remember thinking that she must be married or have a boyfriend, she couldn’t possibly be single.

After the ceremony which was quite different because the men wore these weird robes instead of a suit. Harry’s new wife was Gorgeous, they both looked so happy. Harry noticed me staring at Cho during the reception and introduced us to each other. I was quite embarrassed, as I couldn’t get a coherent word out to her. It all sounded like gibberish. I was surprised to find she thought it was cute. Once the feeling of shock evaporated from my body, I was able to finally talk to her like a normal human being. Apparently, Harry used to not be able to talk to her either when they first met. By the end of the night, we were glued to one another at the hip. When it was time for me to leave I gave her my address so that we could keep in touch. I offered her my cell phone number but she looked at me weirdly, I then remembered that she didn’t know what a cell phone was, thus I  resorted into giving her my address. I hope that she will write because I don’t own an owl…yet.

One morning a week after the wedding, I woke up to find an owl flying past my window. Cho had finally written to me! I was getting worried that she would never write to me. The letter said that she wanted to see me again for coffee, and that she was sorry it took her so long to write. I could picture her sweet voice as I read one part of her letter explaining, she could not figure out what to write to me. After that moment, we were hooked on to each other.

My father Vernon wasn’t too pleased to hear about me fancying a witch. He wouldn’t talk to me for months after Cho and I started dating. It was difficult at first for us to get used to each other. We grew up in two totally different worlds and did things differently. But we stuck by each other and learned we can be like any other couple. It didn’t take long after that for us to be engaged. I like to think it was love at first sight.

Now look at me! I’ve been happily married for 13 years. It was hard for both of our families to get used to the fact that Cho was married to a muggle, and well my family doesn’t know she’s a witch except for my Mum and Dad. They were not completely impressed by my decision, but thankfully they are beginning to bare it. The day of our wedding was one of the best days of my life. Cho was so beautiful, her hair was up in an elegant up do and her dress fitting perfectly to her gorgeous curves. When we locked our eyes together as she walked down the aisle, she took my breath away. It was so overwhelming tears began to slowly fall down my cheeks.

The other best days of my life were when I found out Cho was pregnant, and the day she gave birth to my lovely children. I have a set of fraternal twins a boy and a girl. They are now turning 11 and are awaiting their letters to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Of course, my children are magical; I am married to a witch after all. My twins are all excited, my boy Cedric and my girl Annabelle can’t wait to go to Hogwarts like their mummy did.

The day of the twin’s birth, back in January of 2005, was no normal birth. Cho and I had previously had numerous fights about where we wanted our babies to be born. Of course, she wanted them to be born in St. Mungo’s, but I wanted them to be born in a muggle hospital. I felt safer in a muggle hospital; it was what I am used to.

“I do not trust muggle doctors and their contraptions!” Cho would argue.

She would win every time. If there is anything I learned from being married, is that the wife is always right. Especially when she is pregnant with twins. You do not want to mess with a hormonal angry witch. I learned THAT quickly.

“Can I even enter St. Mungo’s?? It’s a magical hospital after all, and I am not magical!” I asked her during one of our many discussions.

“I guess I’ll have to send an owl out to them, and ask if you can. If you can’t I’ll make special arrangements so that you can enter.” She assured me.

She had gone into labor while we were having dinner with my parents, of all people. She was about to take another bite out of the pie my mum had made, when she cried out in great surprise and pain. We ran, well speed walked, down to Mrs. Figgs house so we could floo to St.Mungo’s. She opened the door quickly, thank god.

One we got to St. Mungo’s we were rushed into the delivery where our healer could examine Cho, and see how she was doing. Our healer just happened to be one of Harry’s friends Padama Patail. Every time a contraction would start, Cho would begin to yell and cry out asking why I did this to her. Even though I knew she didn’t mean it, it still hurt a little. All I could do was hold her hand and tell her it would be over in a while and then we’d have our two beautiful babies with us.

The labour was 20 excruciating long hours. I felt so bad for Cho. But when I heard the first cry of my child there were no words I could find to try to explain the emotions I felt. I heard Healer Patail say “It’s a boy!” and I thought I would faint. The moment I cut his umbilical cord, Cho was having another contraction. I went back to encouraging her and tell her how great she was doing. Only 5 pushes later and my second baby was born. Healer Patail announced “Congratulation it’s a girl!” and I felt like I couldn’t be happier. I looked down at my beautiful wife. She had tears of joy in her eyes, as did I. I leaned down and gave her a passionate kiss.

“I love you Cho” I told her once we broke away from the kiss. She smiled and said

“I love you too Dudley. More than anything else in the world, but no more then our children.”

When they brought back our babies, they were both fully awake. I took my boy, we decided to name him Cedric after Cho’s old friend and ex who had died in his 7th year. I did not object because I knew how much it meant to her, plus I did like that name. As for our little girl we named her Annabelle. We both thought it was a unique and very pretty name for our beautiful little girl.

They both look so very alike; the only difference was that Cedric’s hair was lighter than Annabelle’s. His hair is more of a chestnut colour and Annabelle’s is a very dark brown like her Mum. But there were some highlights in it when the sun hits. They both looked so much like their mum; which I was very happy about. I did not want my children to have inherited my awful looks. It seems though Annabelle did inherit my striking blue eyes. I didn’t notice it before but when she looked up at me I saw those beautiful eyes.

I like to look back to that day as the years went by as Cedric and Annabelle grew up. Now my children will be 11 tomorrow! Where has the time gone!? It seemed like yesterday Cho and I were taking them home from St. Mungo’s a week after they were born. We were both scared out of our minds. We did not want to make a mistake that would hurt our babies. Life has gone by too fast for my liking.
