POV: Annabelle
I woke up by smelling my favourite breakfast being made in the kitchen by my mum. For a moment I forgot what day it is today. It my eleventh birthday!!!!! It is not every day a child turns eleven my mum always says. I got out of bed got dressed and woke up my twin brother because he sleeps like the dead. As I was heading down the stairs I heard my dad yell for us to get out of bed and get ready. Once I enter the kitchen (which is very homey not at all like grandmum Petunia’s house) I am bombarded by hugs and kisses by both my parents. They both wish me a happy birthday.
“Thanks mum, Thanks dad”. I reply to them both. “What’s for breakfast?” I ask even though I already know what it is.
Before my mum can answer my question my brother Cedric traipses into the kitchen still half asleep. He is not normally a morning person.
Cedric mumbles “good morning everyone” to us and sits at the kitchen table to wait for his food. My mum places down plates full of French toast and bacon in front of us with a glass of pumpkin juice. While we are gladly eating our birthday breakfast we hear a tapping at our window.
I scream “IT’S HERE!!!” at the top of my lungs which makes Cedric jump out of his chair and fall on the floor. I run to the window to see our family owl Lucinda waiting there with two letters attached to her leg. I open the window to let her in and take the letters off her leg. I gave her an owl treat before she leaves again.
At this point Cedric is fully awake and alert and my parents are trying to hold back their laughs at my reaction but are so far unsuccessful. I try to calm my self down but that doesn’t happen easily. I know what the letters contain. I have been waiting eleven years for this day to come. It is only the biggest day in every young witch or wizard’s life.
Cedric walks up to me and grabs the letters out of my hands and walks back to the table. I start to protest that he shouldn’t have taken them but I see no point in arguing with him about his lack of decency towards me. I decide to send him my not impressed look which I have mastered thanks you my mum. She is always giving Cedric and I that look; Mostly Cedric though. I skip back to the table to have Cedric throw my letter at my face.
“Cedric do not throw things at your sister’s face!” my mum scolded Cedric.
I ignore my brother’s smirk and look down at my letter. It was written in royal blue ink, which I thought was kind of odd but didn’t think anything other than that. Written on the envelope was…
Annabelle Dursley
Dursley Cottage
Ottery St. Catchpole
England
On the back of the envelope was a wax seal with the Hogwarts school crest pressed into it. In excitement I tear open the envelope and rip out my letter. Of course I scream again. Who wouldn’t scream when they got their letter from Hogwarts?
“Annabelle! Would you stop screaming! Its 7 in the morning you are going to wake up the whole neighborhood if you keep it up.” scolds my dad. I stop screaming like a girl who has just seen their favourite celebrity and read out my letter to my family. Mean while Cedric reads his to himself while following along to what I was reading.
