____Jackie drives down the craggy dirt road as fast as she possibly can. Dust flies all around her which makes it difficult to see. It's a rugged ride with the trucks worn tires and its rusty shocks, but she figures this is better than the alternative; life in prison for a murder she didn't commit. Please god, please get me out of here safely, she begs. Her hands shake uncontrollably as her stomach clenches into a hard knot. I have to do this for my baby's sake. She swerves around a large dip in the road. Loose tools clatter across the truck bed as its cab squeaks with every bump. I hope it doesn't fall apart. She discovers it's held together by rust when she glances around. "Please just get me out of here, please." She taps on its dusty dash.
She looks up she sees the highway a few feet ahead. I'm almost there. She weaves to miss another pothole. Jackie notices two cop cars heading her way as she pulls onto the main road. Oh please don't let them recognize me, please God, please don't let them see me, she tearfully pleads. Her stomach churns with such force, that it makes her sick. Please not now, oh please not now. Vomit quickly rises in her throat. "Oh, God." She pukes across the worn seat. The stench from the chunky bile overpowers her, she throws up again. Jackie sees they're about to pass her when she vomits again. Please keep going, oh please keep going. She wipes her mouth on her sleeve. Jackie watches the cop cars whizz past her, she lets out a sigh of relief. She then notices a nasty taste in her mouth. The overwhelming scent of bile hits her again, making her stomach feel queasy. "I can't do anything about that taste, but I can air out this cab." She's rolling down the window when a horrific thought occurs to her. What if the cops turn around? She anxiously glances in her rearview mirror and sees they're a distance away. "It looks like I escaped from the law again." A terrifying thought suddenly comes to mind. It won't be long before they figure out it was me. I've got to get as much distance between me and them as I can. Maybe I should take a different route, trade this truck for another vehicle. How am I going to do that? I could steal a car. The cops will put out an APB and I'll be stuck again. She anxiously pushes its pedal down further as random thoughts race through her mind. Oh, what am I going to do, what am I going to do? Her therapist's voice echoes in her head.
