Giving It Up For You

I was seriously fed up with the childish behaviour of my so called "best friend" due to her constant copying and messing up of my life.
I revealed a secret? She'd reveal the same one a week later. I became something? She would become it too. Worst of all, I made a friend? She would steal them.
This is the story of how I gave everything up for the sake of my two best friends, and where they are now because of the events.
-
It was the middle of winter, with heavy snow often falling and terribly strong winds, and school had been cancelled for the day. Apparently it was to dangerous to leave the house. The day before that, I had been telling my "best friend" - Clara - about how I had been friends with one of my internet friends for a while and how desperately I wanted to meet her.
"I'm going to meet Gianna one day, and that day will be the best day of my life."
"I wish I had an internet friend! Why do you make friends so easily?"
"Not sure. I guess I just have the gift. You should talk to Gianna sometime; you could get an understanding of who I'm talking about."
After that, we continued with our school work. That night, I received a text from Gianna stating that Clara had began a conversation with her. Thinking nothing more of it, I gave Gianna my honest opinion on her new friend and continued my daily business. This is the moment I regret. I could have stopped this all. I could have helped the situation by simply just saying that the newfound friendship was making me increasingly unhappy and uncomfortable. However, I kept quiet and let it all happen.
For weeks on end after that night, the only times they'd both talk to me would be to talk about how amazing the other was. I felt so abandoned, as you can imagine.
Their friendship soon sprouted into a relationship, and this is where our story begins to fall apart.
Clara didn't really like Gianna in that way, she just needed help getting over the boy she had recently broken up with. She wasn't even bisexual; she said she was to copy me. On the other hand, Gianna was madly in love with Clara. Instant heartbreak story.
Clara was surely good at tricking Gianna into thinking that they were meant to be. It was talent. They talked about the future like they had a clue - never considering the fact that they'd argue. The first argument took place 4 days after the day they began being together.
My messages were full of two rants with two different sides of a story, so I used what seemed believable from each and came up with my own view. I concluded that Gianna was innocent.
These stupid arguments continued every once in a while, until Clara revealed that she never did like Gianna and basically used her to get over the dumb boy who broke up with the shining black haired girl.
Gianna's heart was smashed into more than a million pieces. That is an understatement. It was horrible, to experience such a close friend go through this much pain.
You'd probably think that the story ends here, but you're incorrect.
Gianna was suicidal. Gianna hated herself. These suicide rants continued, until she realised that she was in control.
She could do what she wanted as she wanted and when she wanted. Letting go of Clara was easy, right? She was horrible anyway.
Gianna came to the realisation that Clara was a bad thing in her life, and that she should be the least of her worries. She would always prevent her from doing what she wanted and now she was free. It was time to start a new life, as she said to me.
"I mean, if you think about it, she's done nothing but make me depressed. She didn't help me in any way, she just created a problem I didn't need." Gianna told me. I completely agreed.
"I did give you a warning before the start of all this, and you chose to ignore it."
"I'm so sorry for that. I can trust you with anything. Thank you for always sticking with me!"
We both kissed the facetime camera and said goodbye.
Eventually, Gianna got over Clara, who was basically left with some other people alike her (those who enjoyed messing with people's minds). It was an easy task, bringing Gianna out of her state.
Where is she now, and where am I?
Well, me and Gianna met for the first time a few months ago. It was amazing. I've never experienced anything in my life so amazing!
I am glad to have my best friend back.
Clara, if you're reading this, I want you to know one thing: I gave it all up for you. Everything. My friends, my grades, everything. I hope you're proud.
