My phone buzzed on my night table as it played an obnoxious ringtone. I shifted my body and slightly raised my head up to glare at my alarm clock.
3:00 A.M
Who the hell could be calling me at 3:00 in the morning? I shook my head and turned over in my bed, ignoring my phone. The buzzing stopped followed by the ringtone. I began to melt back into my sleeping state until the obnoxious AT&T ringtone accomponied by buzzing jolted me awake.
I huffed and cursed under my breath as I turned to face my phone and flipped the covers off of me. I reached over and clicked on my bedside lamp, swung my legs over the side of the bed and onto the floor then began to wipe the sleep from my eyes. I peered with blurry vision at the lit up screen of my phone.
5 missed calls: 555-0934
I picked up my phone and swiped the answer button on the screen.
"Hel-" I cleared my throat. "Hello?" I asked hoarsly.
Loud music played in the background along with the sound of pool balls bouncing off each other.
"Yeah, is this-" The man on the line paused- "An-der-son Finch?" He slowly spoke as he sounded out my name.
"Mhm. Who is this? Are you aware that it's 3:00 in the morning?" I spoke aggravatedly.
The man on the other line huffed. "It's Tommy Bangs. And yeah, Princess, I am well aware. Are you aware that your dip-shit boyfriend is all fucked up on booze and pissing all my customers off?" He spat back.
A look of confusion spread across my face until I slowly began to understand what he was implying. Tommy Bangs owned the only bar in town and by "dip-shit boyfriend", I assumed he meant Daryl. I groaned in embarrassment. "I'm sorry Bangs." I spoke sincerely. "I'll come get him now, okay?"
"Good." His deep voice bellowed, then the line went dead.
I shook my head as I jumped up from bed and stumbled sleepily to my closet. I pulled a gray sweat shirt down from its' hanger and slipped it over my head. I fast walked out of my small room, into the kitchen that led into the small apartment living room and to the front door. I slipped on a pair of sandals and grabbed my set of car keys. I locked the door behind me and raced down the stairs to my car. I opened the door, hopped in, started up my Tacoma and pulled out of Asher's apartment complex and onto the road still wet from this mornings' rain.
Asher lived on campus at his college a few blocks away from the apartment my parents rented out for him. I decided to wait a few years untll I went to college, but that didn't mean that I was going to live with my parents until then. Once I turned 20, I packed all my stuff and moved into the apartment with Asher. He wanted to be close to his friends so he decided to live on campus. My parents only kept paying rent on his apartment because he was their favorite and they were thrilled he decided to go to college. If they knew that Asher moved out and their no-go-college daughter was living alone in a creepy apartment complex payed for with their money, they wouldn't hesitate to quit paying rent until I was kicked out and forced to move back in with them. Then, I would have no choice but to go to college. I want to go. I want to be a Pediatric Doctor. But with my Dad's job causing so much family tension, I didn't want to up and leave Reese, Hadie and my mother by themselves. Sure, Asher would still be close to home, but I wanted to see it through that my younger siblings would be okay.
