"Katherine," she closed her eyes even tighter and pressed the hand that wasn't holding onto the branch to her mouth. Without a doubt she knew the tall stranger stalker man and his friends had found her in the tree, however how she didn't know, because they were now under her breaking branches.
"Honey you need to climb down before you hurt yourself more." The last part was growled up and she heard a smack followed by an 'she tripped, I didn't do anything to her' explanation. However Katherine wasn't going to play into their trick. She wasn't dumb and she sure as hell would not go down without a fight. If they wanted a piece of her they were going to get a fight and a damn good one.
"Oh go to hell," she muttered as she wiped the tears off her cheeks and began climbing higher. She knew the branches were much thinner up here and could snap at any moment but she would rather fall to her death then willingly give up to the men below her.
"Oh man, you really got a great mate." Bryson smirked at his Alpha and laughed. From up above his deep chuckle could be heard and then another smack.
"Stop climbing Katherine. The branches are too thin and I can't go up any further." Katherine rolled her eyes and kept going. It would be a cold day in hell before she stopped climbing, an even colder one before she let whoever was climbing up behind her touch a hair on her head.
"That's the point you dick," she muttered as she let out a breath and settled again, nearly at the top of the tree. She could now see the tops of trees around her as well as the lights from campus. She was so close yet so far away. Would her sister miss her or be glad she was finally gone? Not that Charity didn't get enough of attention but she would finally have it all, never having to share it with her twin again. Katherine was sure that would finally please her selfish twin but again guilt flooded her for such thoughts.
"Katherine," a growl came from below her snapping her out of her thoughts. It was much closer than she expected and she gasped. Her grip on the tree loosened and she slipped slightly. A strangled scream left her mouth before she caught her grip again and held tighter to the tree than she ever had been. She knew that if she looked down the owner of the voice would be right below her.
Tears began streaming down her cheeks again. How had a simple evening run led to this? She was bleeding in a tree with God knows how many stalkers ready to kill her two feet from her legs. She sniffled and debated her options. She could let go of the tree and fall to her death, much more welcomed over what the men below her probably had planned, or she could start screaming and pray somebody from campus could hear her.
"Don't think about it Katherine. Just give me your leg so I can get us out of this tree and down to the ground," she breathed out and quickly filled her lungs with air before she let out a loud shriek.
"Damnit, shut her up Zac." A new voice she hadn't heard spoke from far below and it sent shivers down her spin. Her eyes widened and her grip loosened once again from shock. She slipped an inch further down and that was all Zac needed to grab her good leg and pull her all the way down to where he was.
Frantic sobs and screams began to leave her mouth but a large hand was suddenly placed over her mouth to quiet her. Katherine bit down quickly and hard shocking Zac and his grip on her faltered.
'Out of all the ways to die,' Katherine thought as she began hitting branches on the way back to the ground. A scream had been about to burst on her lips but instead the wind was currently being beat out of her by a tree. It felt like forever before she stopped falling but she realized something was wrong when she stopped falling and instead of landing back first on the ground she was panting heavily in somebody's arms. Arms that made her body feel warm and... Right... For the first time since that night Katherine felt right.
