I keep my head down as Secret shuts and locks the front door. I hear her and the others moving into the livingroom but don't move. When she sits next to me I raise my head and see Landon and Dallas. Dallas was always over protective when we were kids, they all were, but he was worse. I put my head back down and look at my hands, playing with them instead of looking at my brothers.
"As soon as this is over you leave." Secret commands them. "You don't know how hard this is for her."
"Where are the others?" I ask them without glancing up.
"Outside the house, they wouldn't leave." Dallas answers me.
"Secret call the others tell them to come to my house." I tell her. "Let the others in Dallas."
Secret gasps, "Sage are you sure?"
"I won't be able to sleep once I tell these two and what's to stop them from telling the others? I don't want to relive it again after this, I don't know if I can take it." I whisper at her.
"Okay," she whispers and leaves to make the phone calls.
It takes less than ten minutes for Brody, Autumn and Summer to get to my house, along with Alex, James, and Axel.
"Sage are you sure you want to do this?" Summer and Autumn ask me.
"As sure as I can get," I mumble.
"What's going on love?" Axel asks.
"If you don't shut up you can leave!" Summer snaps at him.
"Calm down sweetheart." Alex says to her.
All at once they start talking and I sit there soaking it all in. I close my eyes, trying to ignore them, key word trying . After about twenty minutes of them fighting I finally snap.
"Shut up! Just because you walked back into my life doesn't mean you're welcome, I'll hold the door for you so you can walk right back out of it." Everyone's eyes snap to me and their mouths shut. "Are you done?"
"Yes," was murmured across the room.
"My life wasn't roses and cotton candy." I begin. "A week after you guys left Jennifer got into a car wreck. It was bad, she was hit by a drunk driver, they had to put a cast on her left arm and they had her on morphine. After she got out of the hospital everything was fine, she got me up, made breakfast, we ate together, left together, I'd go to the bus stop and she'd go to work. Then she slowly free falled. It was almost a year after you left that she lost her job because they had fired her for being drunk at work. It was around that time that she first hit me, a light slap here a kick there, nothing major to worry about. But then rolled around my 13th birthday, the day I got a job at the diner and she found out. She took all the money I'd earned from babysitting and working at the diner and bought drugs and alcohol, ever since then I've had to work two jobs. She beat me that night, I was put into a coma for two weeks, after that she couldn't stop hitting me. She kept doing it. Beating me with a broom, a bat, a empty beer bottle, anything she could get her hands on. My back is littered with scars from her beating me. All of my ribs have been broken at least half a dozen times, the doctor said if they broke any more they couldn't help me. Just before my 16th birthday she hit me on the back of the head with the broom I went unconscious and when I woke up I couldn't see, it took me almost six months to regain my eye sight." I tell them with tears streaming down my face, reliving all of those painful memories.
"I owe everything to Secret, Summer, Autumn and Brady. They stayed with me, they got me a cell phone to call them on when I needed to. While you, my brothers, who are supposed to protect me, left. Now you know, and now you can go." I tell them emotionally.
