"The girl with an OCD mum!" The boy said excitedly. Oh no. It was him; it was the guy from the café. CAN THIS DAY GET MORE EMBARRASSING?
I lowered my head, looking down at the asphalt I'm standing on, too embarrassed to answer or even look at him in the eyes.
"I'm sorry," He said apologetically. "Is everything okay?" He asked in concern.
No, everything is not okay. It was never okay. My perfect life turned against me in a blink of an eye. It was like going to sleep happily and waking up facing every bad thing that can happen to you. The only thing that used to be good in my life, my father, had died. I even left my home for good. My home, the town where I was born and raised, where I spent unforgettable memories, where my family and friends lived. My mother; the only person that was supposed to be my family, my friend, the wall I use to stand up and move on and my support, does everything besides that. She embarrasses me and slowly turns into the rope that will suffocate me. Now, here I am standing on the side of the road, lost, embarrassed and feeling the urge to break down.
"Fine" was all I managed to say.
"Yeah seems like it," He said sarcastically preferring to a tear that stained my cheek which I didn't realize had fell earlier. "Just get in the car we haven't gotten all day." He offered.
I hesitated but then opened the car's door and settled on the passenger's seat.
"Where are we off to?" The boy asked.
"Abbey High-school if that's okay." I said offering a small smile. He didn't do anything to piss me off or anything so I couldn't find a reason to be mad at him, I was just going through a hard time but I knew that I would get over it after a while. That's what I always do.
The boy looked surprised,
"Well you're lucky I'm a senior there!" He said cheerfully.
So, we go to the same school together which means that we have to see each-other every day, which adds the tension between us. After all, he knows what a psycho my mum can be sometimes.
"Cool" Was all I replied with. I didn't understand what was he excited or happy about it anyway.
After fifteen minutes accompanied by silence, he finally spoke,
"So, today's your first day?" He asked keeping an eye on the road while I answered him with a simple nod.
"Well with that sad expression, you're going to make a bad first impression. Then I have to convince everyone I didn't pick you up from a mental institution." He joked trying to decrease the tension. I laughed slightly, "Now that's way better!" He said cheekily.
Silence took over us a while more. We've been driving for 20 minutes; did I run that far away?
"So what happened after I left?" I said trying to make a conversation.
"You mean 'ran away'… Well, you're mother ran after you looking angry as ever then… well… I was going to close the café anyway to go to school so I closed it quickly and took off. I just wanted to find you. I had a feeling that… you needed help." He said quietly more like a whisper.
Wanted to find me? And help me? Did I just hear him right?
"What?" I asked hesitatingly about what I just heard, or didn't hear.
"My dad treats me like shit too, so I know the feeling and how upset you can get." He said frowning.
"Well, Thanks a lot!" I said smiling towards him which was returned with a warm smile of his.
Actually after looking deeply and studying his face, he looked very handsome. He has this perfect jaw line and small dimples that most girls fall for. His yellowish brown hair was made into a perfect quiff.
I quickly looked back at the window before he notices me staring at him.
After another two minutes of silence we finally arrived to Abbey High-school.
"I guess this is it" He said lamely. He actually wasn't pleased to arrive to school. Well, this is school you idiot who would ever be pleased to go there?
But he looked sadder than a normal lazy teenager that wanted to pass school. Anyway I shrugged it off before forgetting a very important thing.
"Hey! You never told me your name?" I asked as we made our way to the school building. We didn't ever meet properly so we never had the chance of sharing our names or any personal information.
He chuckled, "You'll know it in about 5 seconds" He said confidently leading me to the school's building big entrance while I just followed him thinking about what he meant.
As soon as we stepped into the school and walked the long hall with the lockers at our sides, I knew exactly what was he talking about.
"Nick!" A big muscular guy shouted high-fiving --Nick.
"Hey Nick!" A blonde-tanned girl in her cheerleader uniform said cheekily.
"Yo! Nikko, who's your girlfriend?" A short boy with a nerdy-look said chuckling referring to, me.
"What's up Nick?" Another guy said.
Followed by another guy, and another and another.
The Salutes finally came to an end when I glared at -Nick jaw dropping. But I was met by another one of his frowns. He was obviously the most popular boy at school (which I had expected earlier) and he wasn't happy? Well, I can't judge him by his social life and outside look. I can never know what is actually going on with his life.
"Now, who's going to tell you my name?" I said trying to make a joke to break that frown off of his face.
He laughed and as he was about to answer his phone rang. As soon as he saw the caller identity he excused me and ran to what I suppose the boys' restroom. I just stood there in the middle on the hall awkwardly. Then I decided to find the office I was supposed to go to earlier to have my schedule to go to my classes.
I was walking up the stairs trying to find my way to the office when someone tapped on my shoulder. I slowly turned around facing a beautiful blonde girl.
"Hello there, I'm -"
"ALLISON!" A girl called her from down the stairs climbing up the stairs for her, which surprised me the similarity between the two girls. They were practically, twins. Except that the one climbing the stairs was black haired.
The so-called Allison took my hand and walked away quickly before the other girl can reach us.
"What's going on? Where we going? Who are you both?" I asked confusion all over my face.
She went to an empty dark place then started talking,
"Hi. My name is Allison. I was trying to introduce myself to you so we get to know each other but then my twin sister the sociopath came looking for me, she always needs money, so I just hide from her, she leaves me nothing for myself!" She said angrily but making sure no one heard her especially her, sister.
"Oh, It's nice to meet you," I said offering a smile. "Don't worry if she found you she would be embarrassed to ask for money while I'm around" I continued.
"Oh believe me, you don't know Alisha…" She said rolling her eyes. So her twin sister's name was Alisha.
I chuckled slightly at her words.
After a while Alisha's voice was gone and her figure was nowhere to be found. So Allison and I got out from the empty place and I told her my classes and she kindly led me to my first class.
