THIRD PERSON POV

SCHOOL.

Now here this six letter word can either light up a student's face completely for what reason May really have no clue and then the second type where school is just like a prison where you're allowed to go home but you gotta come back again. For her it's like really? You have an authoritarian structure, dress code, emphasis on silence and order, negative reinforcement, walk in lines, loss of individual autonomy, abridged freedoms, no input in decision making, set times enforced for eating ,walking and studying etc. Isn't this just like what happens in prison?

School is supposed to be a safe and encouraging place for every child. It should be a place where the child can discover themselves and can prepare for their rest of their lives, a place where the child feels safe, respected and cared for.

It's just left at imagination. And in reality? It's not the same.

FAT.BROKE.NEEDY.SLUT.ATTENTION SEEKER. WASTE. FAKE. LONER. Yes these are the words and many more that May has to hear from peers around her. Teasing, name-calling, harassment, making fun and between all of this hurting her so badly is so very common in the premises of Westwood High, May's school.

When the hundred pairs of eyes pierce her through,

The fire of rage glistening in their eyes,

A piece of her is ripped apart.

When the hundreds of fingers are pointing towards her,

Blaming all out on her without even trying to find the truth,

A piece of her is ripped apart.

When the hundreds of mouth whisper to each other and laugh among themselves calling her different names and different phrases out to her; pointing to her dignity and character being talked about,

A piece of her is ripped apart.

When the hundreds of steps are taken aback and they start to walk away by the people she thought she could rely for support and help,

A piece of her is ripped apart; a storm runs within her.

The waves of hurt rush inside her, Taking away the sand from her shore and removing the stability.

She was fighting against the world alone; sometimes she would smile to hide her tears and the other time would lower her head and try to walk away as fast as she could as to avoid further insults and the damage that is made on her heart by listening to them. All she is doing right now is stitching back those pieces of her that so fragile and can be pulled apart from one another so easily.

She wishes it could be as easy as it is for Anne and James. But well it isn't possible really because of their so outrageous, bold and confident personalities along with exotic looks. Anne and James are the most popular and considered to be 'exclusive ' in school. On one hand where people bully May and ignore her, they die for the "it couple and their group". But to their utter dismay, their group is already formed and they entertain no one else. Everything in their world is different and exclusive. Their school branch is different from May's due to subjects but Janne are way too popular. No one knows in May's school who she is. And so school is a pain in her ass but she hangs out with Janne's group and they're sweet and respectful to her and they know their "little secret". In short, they're good company and also, May has no other option as well. She is grateful for what she has. Just like beggars are not choosers in the same way, Loners are not the ones to reject company.

"What's wrong May? Where are you lost?" Anne asked May pretty suspicious of what's going inside her head."Nothing really, I'm just thinking about to skip school for a few days, I'm not feeling well." she sighed to Anne. Just then, James was back with a breakfast trolley having all sorts of their favourite food and assortments, fully dressed up for the day and of course with his white bright smile. Anne as soon as she saw him enter through the glass doors sat up straight and adjusted her top and she hastily ran fingers through her messy long hair. She then threw her cigarette behind her and checked her breathe. When all of this was happening May couldn't help but laugh at her innocence, her girl facet that drools over James and her continuous efforts to look pretty and get his attention. She has this side too, which to May, is believed to be her real facet. The facet where she is not pretending to be carefree, strong and loose. Despite what she considers her relation with him to be casual and profitable even May is clearly aware that it is something more than that from both but they're not ready to accept it. Afraid of confessing their emotions and weakness and more importantly because of the word COMMITMENT.

As soon as he spotted Anne he knelt down to her planted a kiss on her forehead and after accepting the kiss gracefully, she threw her arms around him and pulled him down and closer to her and wildly pecked his lips, "Morning Jam!" "My morning is made so good mm." he winked and Anne burst out laughing shyly she hid her face in James shirt and James returned this gesture with a wink. May looked away. She couldn't bear to see this sight. Not because she couldn't bear to stand her happiness, well, she was so happy for to see her sister smiling and getting pampered by someone but it was because she can't stand the sight of love and promises .It's just too much to handle, y'know? After she was out of her shy and affectionate self she suddenly sat straight up once again as if remembering something. She glanced towards May and cleared her throat, in a calm voice she tried to ask but came out to be loud and chirpy " Jammy boy what do you have for me today? I hope something nice and of my liking. I'm tired of having salads and juices. I'M STARVING AS FUCK!!!!!"

"Calm down, sunshine. You have worked so sincerely these weeks so I'm gonna treat you with your favourite beef roast with strawberry milkshake." he said chuckling. Faking a heavy British accent picked up her plate and the glass of milkshake and laid it in front of her. Handing out the napkins and fork, he bowed and said,"For ladylove."

Anne just chuckled.

Moving forward he went on to May and handed her breakfast, "Coffee extra strong. No sugar half milk. And here, chocolate chip muffin and granola for you madam." he said bowing low and making May smile and hit him playfully. He then after handing out the females' breakfasts plopped down on the seat next to Anne and filled his own plate."Stop being a caveman for once." Anne muttered.

"A very hot well -built at that" James smirked resulting in May choking on her coffee ad spilling it out and then laughing like a maniac. James and Anne just kept her watching as she continued to laugh in awe and shared a satisfying look to see her laugh.

Despite of their hectic and busy schedule and mostly pretending one at that, they got energy to cross through it all. They got satisfaction and strength seeing their girl smile. They really know that now their day will be good and Anne's mother proud.
