(Melody's PoV) (Friday, August, 30th. Present day.)

I sat up in bed as my alarm went off. I don't care. I wasn't asleep anyway. I haven't slept well since... that day. Gran's been awesome. She actually moved into my house instead of me moving into hers. She said she didn't want to separate me from my friends. I don't have any friends, other than Rebecca, but she is more of a sister than anything. I used to hang out with my brother and his friends, which made me feel like I had seven brothers instead of one, but ever since Adam died, they haven't spoken to me much. I mean I see them around, but not like we used to. Like I said, they were all like brothers to me and losing them as well as Adam broke me.

I stopped talking all together, for a whole month. People tried to get me to talk, but I refused. I got called names and then the bullying started again. I don't dare take off my hoodie or wear shorts. I'm black and blue every where. Scrapes and small cuts covered my body. I can't tell Rebecca or she'll just try to stand up for and then she'd get bullied, too. I could never let that happen.

"Melody, come down for breakfast or you'll be late!" Gran called from downstairs. "Be there in a sec!" I got out of bed, through on a pair of jeans, my black V-neck and a deep ocean blue and a dark blood red checkered hoodie. I hate how people think I wear it because it looks like some YouTuber's and only describe the colors like that because I don't no any other way to describe them. (A/N No offence to Bajan. We are fans. Just part of the story.) I readjusted my black and gold dog tags, one engraved with my name, the other with... Adams. He was wearing it the day he- My phone vibrated pulling back to reality before I broke. Grabbing my phone off my desk and saw Rebecca had already messaged me... twice.

R: How are you?

R: Ready for school?

M: I'm good and it's school of course I'm not.

R: I know I wish I could have seen you over the summer.

M: Me too. Sorry, but I have to go. You know Gran. Bye, Becc.

R: Bye, Mel.

I run down stairs and into the kitchen. A small plate of eggs with a piece of toast were waiting for me as well a Gran. "Let me guess...Rebecca?" She asked smiling as I nodded and sat down. Gran has been taking care of me for the late two years and has gotten to know me and Becc really well, except for the beatings, of course. I ate while Gran finished wiping down the counter tops.

I finished and hugged Gran. "See you after school." I tried to keep as much terror out of my voice at the thought of school. Walking over to the door, pulling on my black Converse and grabbing my bag. "Thanks for breakfast. Bye, Gran." I closed the door and walked to my car. I turned on the radio, "And now See You Again by Wiz Khali. /

It's been a long day without you my friend

And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again

We've come a long way from where we began

Oh I'll tell you all about it when I see you again

When I see you again.

I felt tears start to form in my eyes, but I held them back. Adam and I used to sing- or rather shout- this song. I didn't turn it off as I pulled out of the drive. I couldn't. Hearing our song gave me a shiver, almost as if he was sitting next to me singing along. I smiled as I remembered his smiling face, then I realized, I haven't sung a song for fun with a friend for two years. I had even dropped out of the choir. I wish I could sing like that again, but then I still have Adam's voice complementing me after I did a solo. "You're an amazing singer. Your my Melody and I love to listen to you sing. Never change." "Your my harmony." I had whispered and he didn't hear. I nearly let a tear fall as the song ended. I had changed, a lot. I wish Adam were here or I could at least hear his voice again.
