*Nathan's POV*
"Excellent work, you two! Plenty of new specimens to work with! Now, are you two ready to witness the glorious triumph of a new age of Team Rocket?! Ahahaha! The whole world will fall to my hybrids! But let's not get hasty now, shall we? First, Maxwell, I need you to conduct a few deals in my name- the Game Corner in Celadon needs restocking, and I require someone capable to pull off the job for me..."
"I'm on it, Sir!" Maxwell salutes the boss and grabs a box of Pokeballs labeled "Porygon/Clefairy" before departing through the elevator that we had just come in from.
"Now, as for you, Nathan..." Giovanni continues, turning to me,
"I am entrusting the full leadership of this experiment to your team of scientists. Do not disappoint me!" Giovanni's gaze narrows for a short moment before returning to his original disposition,
"Are we in agreement? Then, by all means, create an army so powerful that not even Lance, himself, can stop me!" He laughs for a while before departing to his quarters. I waste no time in organizing my team.
"You two- Proton! Petrel!" I call to two of Team Rocket's higher-ups across the hall. I figure that, with the both of them acting as my "overseers," nothing can go wrong.
"We have a job to do! Meet me in the testing room, stat!" I tell them before walking to the testing room, myself, to examine the Eevee that we had claimed from our "haul," shutting and locking the door behind me.
Although I'll be trapped, I don't believe that they can muster enough strength to overpower me, considering that their anesthesia has barely worn off. But, alas, I have a Metagross, waiting just in case anything happens.
I silently tell Maxwell, "Thanks," before officially starting my experiment.
Releasing about a dozen Pokemon from their Pokeballs, I am greeted with every type of Eevee imaginable, but, examining the crowd of fur, my analytical gaze eventually rests on a Flareon and Jolteon practically embracing each other. Satisfied at my choices, I return the rest of the Pokemon to their capsules, leaving only those two remaining.
"You're alive! But..." the Flareon's voice suddenly quivers,
"Where are we? And where is Jake?..." her face goes completely pale. In response, the Jolteon turns to look at me, angrily.
"Are you the one who did this?!" the irate Pokemon barks, its fur crackling with electricity. I laugh nervously, knowing that, while my lab coat will absorb most of the impending shock, it may rebound and harm some of the present specimen.
"Calm down, please," I tell him,
"This will be over shortly..." I unearth a needle from my sleeve and calmly hold it to the Flareon's neck. The Jolteon shouts in anguish and charges at me. I begin to press down on the needle's plunger, but, before I can sedate the Pokemon, my body tenses up, and I start to lose consciousness. I look down at my chest, where I see that the Jolteon had impaled me with its spiked fur.
Gasping, I back away from the two Pokemon, throwing the needle to the floor in the process and clutching my wound. To add to my problems, a chill rolls down my spine when I hear the door slam open and Giovanni appear in the doorway behind me. I whirl around to be greeted by the boss' daily tirade.
"What is going on here? There's no reason that a simple experiment should be this much of a problem!" He stamps his foot in outrage.
Barely conscious, I try to reason with the angry Rocket boss, telling him that I am in the final stages of the experiment.
