Chapter 9) The Marriage

Narrator

It's been three months now since both leaders declared war on each other, but only one battle had occurred. Within the first month, the war had all but ended because of two separate species seeing the wrong in their father's actions. After these events happened, the great leaders declared that their first borns were to be wed at the night of the summer solstice. This pleased the ancient dragons as well as the werewolves ancestors, everything was finally in balance. 

Ember 

It's been two and a half months since the war was ended, and everything is finally falling into place. "I'm getting married, Sapphire. Are you excited ?" "I'm happy you're happy my lady, but I'm not happy about who you're marring." "Why ? Alex is a very honest, kind, and protective man. You don't have to worry about him hurting me." "I know, but that isn't the reason I'm worried." "Then what is worring you Sapphire ?" "I'm scared that he will replace me, as your protector." "Why Sapphire, why would you think that ? I'm expanding my side of the family, you actually have more people to protect. Father said that when I get married, the person I marry will also become your soul reason to exist." "He never told me that." "Well maybe he thought that you already knew what happens after I get married, and believed that you didn't need telling." "Maybe you're right, I shouldn't get so worked up over this, this marriage is going to benefit me." "That's the spirit Sapphire, think of like your the one getting rewarded." "I feel a lot better now, thank you my lady." "No problem Sapphire." 

Alexander 

Finally after all this time, the great feud has ended. I've waited for this moment all my life, and now it's finally here. I'm getting married to someone very close to me, she was the one who helped me stop the war, and now we're to be betrothed. Our wedding will be held on the summer solstice after dark, so that no one could interfere with such a great ceremony. "Alex, what are you doing ?" "I'm reading a book, what are you doing ?" "I'm seeing what your doing ?" "Well isn't that a coincidence, I was just about to go to my room and call Ember to see what she was doing." "Of course you were, when do you not ?" "What is that supposed to mean ?" "That you never spend time with our family any more. I feel like you're pushing us away, and that you never speak to any of us, not even mother." "I'm sorry, but you know the traditions, when two great royals are to be married, they only pay attention to each other until the actual wedding." "I know, I know, but why did it have to be you ? You're my big brother, and you should be paying attention to me too." Lily got up and walked out the room very slowly, even though she clearly didn't like the idea of Alex leaving, she left the room with her head held high.  "I love Lily." "I love you too big brother." 

The Elemental Court 

"If this marriage goes on the dragon empire will be lost to the werewolves." "Rubbish, I believe that it will make it stronger." "But what about the strong blood line that the dragons have been caring on for so many generations, they'll be lost if the two have children." "But think about how large the empire would grow if they do. If they get married then we will finally have peace in the Nevernever." "But what matters to us is the blood line that will become of this bonding of the tribes. This marriage will severe the pure blood line of dragons in half, creating a dirty half blood monster." "ENOUGH !!!... If this is what they want, we will allow the marriage to progress. But, let me tell you one thing Draco, If I give you my blessing, will you keep the balance of pure's and half-bloods at a reasonable level ?" "Yes my lord." "Good, if Draco says he will, than I shall give him my blessing to marry princess Ember and prince Alexander." "I give you my thanks, Lord of Air." "You May leave, Lord Draco." As I left the Elemental court, I felt all the ancient's eyes on me. I knowingly closed the door behind me before I heard them arguing again. I know this doesn't please most of them, but it's what my daughter wants. And if she doesn't get what she wants her mother would have had a little talk with me that might have ended my life. Thank goodness Lord Ash heard me out, and gave me the blessing before they made the decision without him, it was pretty obvious that they didn't want the marriage to proceed. Not only did Lord Ash help, but so did Empress Sapphire. Without them to put some sense into the others, I would be the last dragon lord. Now back home to tell Ember the good news. 

Ember and Alex's Castle 

"I wonder what's taking father so long ?" "Well if it were me, it would be because I was trying to get a blessing from someone who doesn't even think of the idea of a dragon and a werewolf getting married, especially two royals." "Thanks for the positive attitude Alex, makes me even more comfortable to get married in public." "What ? I was telling you what I thought would happen if it were me. Is that such a bad thing ?" "Sometimes it is when your wife was already thinking that this wedding was a bad idea in the first place." "Well my wife shouldn't be so upset over that now, when her father just walked into the door with a smile on his face." "What ? ... Father !!! You're back already, I thought it would take ages to get their blessings." "No my dear daughter, it was Lord Ash and Empress Sapphire that gave their blessings, the other's just agreed to let the wedding go on." "Oh so it didn't go as well as planned." "No, but we can have the wedding in public without any interruptions from the Elemental court." "Oh thank goodness. Did you hear that Alex ?!" "Loud and clear my love !" 

The Wedding 

Finally, the day of the wedding has arrived. "You look Handsome, Alex." "Thanks mom, but I'm really nervous right so nothing you say will help right now." "Well I'm sure Ember feels the same way. I remember when I got married to your father on my wedding day; I was so nervous that I almost cancelled the wedding." "Wow, I guess I don't have it as tough as Ember does." "Not even close my dear." I wonder what she's doing right now, maybe going over her vows. 

"Father, were are my shoes ?" "They're under your bed deary." "Found them, thanks." "No problem Ember. I remember when me and your mother got married; it was such a beautiful setting, but this one is going to top it off big time." "No, I'm sure our wedding won't even be comparable to your's." "No, I'm serious, this wedding going to be the one every nation will talk about, all throughout the Nevernever." "Thanks dad." "No problem my child." As the day progresses, everyone is running around making sure that everything is perfect for the wedding that will change the face of the earth forever.
