Chapter 8) The Two Family's Meet

When me and my family finally get to our destination, I could already smell Ember and her family approaching. I started to toss dirt in the air to cloud the smell which was working very well. "What was that smell brother ?" "It was probably the wind bringing it from some far away land." "Ok." As we got closer to the meadow the smell got stronger. "Wait here, I'll scout ahead." "Oh no you don't, I won't let my son have all the fun if there's a dragon over there." "Please father, just trust me." "Alright, but be careful." "I will." I started to walk very slowly, but then I hit my head on something hard. "Ouch, that hurt Alex." "Sorry, I couldn't see anything." "Clearly." "So how are going to do this without our family's killing each other ?" "Good question. I think it would be best to go into our human forms and break down the tree's to show them that me and you are dating." "Good but how do we do that ?" "With Rock of course." "Oh, right, but how do we get to him ?" "I'm here my lady." "Well that was quick." "Of course, the princess and I have been mentally connected since we finished getting to know each other." "Well isn't that just lovely." "Okay on the count of three, Rock will make the tree's collapse. Ready; one, two... THREE." Rock spinned around and broke every tree with his tail. Then they all fell to the ground in one second. Everyone was looking at me and Ember kissing in the center of the fallen tree's. All I heard was gasping and growls coming from everyone. When Ember finally stopped kissing me, we looked around and what I saw was terrifying. Our parents were giving each other the death stare, and it looked as if they were also hesitating. "Alex, what is the meaning of this ?!" "Ember, you better start explaining yourself right now before I kill that creature you're infatuated with." "Rock, what were you thinking ?!" "Everyone pay attention to me." With hate and confusion in their eyes, everyone looked in Rock's direction. "What is the meaning of this, dragon ?" "How dare-" "Enough ! This was a plan to stop the feud between dragons and werewolves. Now I know it seems mad, but please hear us out, Ember you may speak." "It was the Forest that brought prince Alex and I together. After encountering each other, we knew what had to be done." "She's right, the Forest was the one to come up with the idea of us becoming an item to restore peace among the mythical creatures of the Nevernever." " But how is that possible Ember ?" "Because father, the Forest is the first spirit that ever existed in the Nevernever even before the legendary dragons." "My lady is speaking the truth, I just never wanted to believe it. I always thought that that tale was always just an old story to increase young dragons imagination, but here you are Ember telling me the same thing that Rock had told me as a young hatchling so many eons ago."  

"You see, even a great elemental dragon believes in it. Father listen, if we are ever going to bring peace to these lands, war is not the answer. There is another way." "You're right Alex, I should have listened to you sooner. Draco, would you hear me for just a minute, if you please." "Of course William, right after you tell the truth about what you did to my love." "We didn't hurt her Lord Draco, we weren't the ones to take you mates life." "Then who took her young prince ? Give me one good answer why I should believe that your kind had nothing to do with death of my wife." "Because your wife didn't die." "WHAT ?!!!! Speak with sense young man, what do you mean she isn't dead ?" "I'm telling you that your wife never died." "But I saw her die right in front of my eyes. Are you telling me that my eyes weren't seeing correctly ?" "No I'm not, I"m simply telling you that you saw what she wanted you to see." "Father I should have told you sooner." "Told me what ? What is going on here ?" "Mother has always been here, she never left, only her body did. When you saw mother die her spirit was absorbed into the Forest's largest tree. The Mother Tree." "Are you meaning to tell me that the Forest is Saphira ?" "Yes I am. And when I take you to the Mother Tree, you will then understand why she left in the first place." "How long have you known ?" "Ever since I first went into the Forest. She has always been there for me. And every day before I came home, she told me to give you a hug and a kiss from her." "So that's what all the affection was from. I would have never thought that she could still be alive, here and now in this very forest. Why didn't she tell me ? I'm confused Ember. "Father all of your questions will be answered when we arrive at the Mother Tree. For now, let's get to know each other while the moment lasts." It was an awkward day because to great leaders that had been feuding for ions were attempting to get along. While everyone else was watching very attentively just in case they decided to turn this peaceful picnic into a bloodbath. When the two leaders finally started to notice that they had a lot of things in common, the picnic started to feel more like a get-together then a plan to end the war.  Everyone was getting along quite well at the end of the picnic, when my father started to announce something that made me smile. "Well how about instead of sitting here and wasting time, let's go hunting for some deer. A picnic isn't a picnic without food." "I agree with you Draco, is everyone ready to go hunting, wait a minute did you say you wanted to go hunting for deer ?" "Yes I did, is there a problem with that ?" "No it's just we thought that dragons hunted bigger game than that, I do apologize if I offended you." "No it's fine, silly rumors like that spread all over the Nevernever. Our hunger isn't as huge as most people might think, so it's understandable if someone were to think that we eat based on our body size. That's usually how it goes, but we are different, if we eat too much we wouldn't able to fly, just the basics of flying." "Ok, thank you for clearing that rumor up for us, but do you know of the others ?" "Other what ?" "Rumors." "Oh yes, and if any of you have any questions for us, please don't hesitate to ask. Is everyone ready to leave ?" "Yes father, we're all ready to go on the hunt now." "Here we go then."
