She bolted through the forest, with every branch in the way and every log destined to trip her legs, landing her face flat onto the disgusting, damp dirt beneath. Something was behind her, chasing after her, following her every move. She could feel her heartbeat pound in her chest, getting faster as the seconds went by. Thalia never had the nerve to look back, but she knew what was coming for her. The sun dropped and the moon shined brighter than all of the millions and millions stars combined. Barefooted, she could feel every stick create more and more splinters into the heels of her feet. She ran and ran, but no matter how fast, something powerful, something horrific was nearly breathing on her shoulder. She balled her fists so tight, her fingernails dug deep into her skin. She could feel the blood crease through each and every finger. Thalia finally had the nerve to look back. All the tension built up, she stopped and quickly turned her head back, and when she did... her vision went black. The sound of a buzzing noise was in the distance while she woke up on her bed. Her hands quivered while she grabbed the alarm clock and threw it across her bright, blue room. The alarm was for 1:00 am, the time she needed her pills. She looked at her body and expected bloody thorns wrenched into her legs and arms. Nothing, not a scratch. Letting out a groan, she stood her back against the hard, cold window behind her bed. She heard the raindrops smacking against the glass while the crickets chirped for what seemed forever. "The same dream, every night. The same feeling, the same heartbeat, the same tears. For what reason?" She thought to herself. It was a Saturday night in Chigago, everybody else was making plans and going to parties, while Thalia cried through the day, and laughed at her nightmares. The therapist, Dr Shaw, prescribed three bottles of pills this week. In every bottle, there were 15 pink and white tablets. All empty. She let her legs stretch out onto the master bed, and she drifted off in a daze, while the pills were the only things that knew how to help her.they knew how to help Thalia Brandon, the girl who thought she was insane. Turns out, she's way more than that. Way more powerful than the creature who tortures her. Faceless, she calls him. A faceless monster, with what she thought had the ability to control her, along with her mind, at the tips of his fingertips.
