The city sat in ruin, Corpses scattered about and charred bodies littered the streets like the very bricks flung from surrounding walls and battlements. However a lone boy...crouched behind a fore lorn stone was silent...crying but...silent.... The events played before him over and over again. He woke up....played outside....and right when his mother was about to pick up this small..not even 9 year old boy the roof collapsed....and well; The mother quickly heard what was outside and bade the boy to hide....he did it much quicker than expected and the mother managed one last smile before a claw of monstrous proportions protruded upwards from the rubble tearing into her abdomen like paper. She was simply dragged out screaming. And like clockwork that very same howl of the beast's and victims resonated.
Continuesly the images played over in his mind...the boy couldnt have been there for more than 3 hours but it seemed like a eternity before a actual person entered the rubble. The man didnt seem to be in the mood for evil intentions no....It seemed he was LOOKING for survivors; still though...the boy was deathly quiet but no matter how hard he tried he still breathed quickly with a tinge of sorrow in the gasps. The man heard it and with a glance saw the boy...he outstretched his hand and the boy flinched....and with a caring tone a voice broke out from the man. "Hello....my name is Hakubi, i was sent here to retrieve survivors of this travesty and report them back to my troop for regrouping.....are you alright? Did those things hurt you..?" The boy sat up wiping his nose and shook his head softly. "Good......want to ride on my shoulders while we walk back..?" The boy smiled flashing his teeth and with a swift motion of his arms the soldier hoisted the boy up and together exited the rubble.
The sight of the city was almost malefic...buildings exposed...walls broken..death everywhere and in response the boy held his eye's shut. Feeling the boy cringe the now realized soldier quickened his pace. And soon enough they neared the city gate...guardsmen hanging over the rails with holes protruding out of them like stomata's on a plant. Again a quickened pace, within seconds they passed out of the city and to the surrounding forestry. "Dont worry, worse case we can sleep in there for the night....the hordes dont like the forest luckily" With a slight chuckle the boys sense of safety was restored and they continued onward into the undergrowth.
