There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment. - Sarah Dessen
Selene Sinclair's P.O.V.
Everything from the moment I had contacted my father had turned into chaos. Increased security had been insured around the whole pack. Even the Lycans had sudden become on edge. I guess that's what happens when an attempt is made on their Luna.
The twins, Ryker and Roland, had been admitted to the infirmary as our pack doctor had taken them into surgery. Now, two hours later, they were laying on their assigned hospital beds watching some cartoon on the television.
They thankfully healed quite quickly. After they had been sent to their room to rest and I had sent Rosie to get them some snacks, I asked them what had occured and scolded them for not informing me right away.
"But we wanted to prove ourselves, Selene!" Ryker and Roland argued, their adorable face scrunching up in frustration. It sometimes scared me at how in sync they were. I sighed, taking a seat at on of the chairs. "And why would you want to do that, huh?"
They looked down at their miniscule hands, fidgeting with their fingers. "We wanted to be like you, and mommy and daddy! We want to be strong and brave." Ryker's voice had decreased an octave as he stated the last part.My heart swelled with pride at the twins. "Ryker, Roland," I started, looking between the injured twins. "Being brave doesn't mean you have to prove yourself to people and putting your lives at risk. Being brave is to stand up for what you believe in, what you believe is right. The choices we make in this world affect it more than we know, so think about what would've happened to your family if you two, Goddess forbid, were killed by that rogue. You must never do anything like that again, okay?"
"Okay, we're sorry." And they did the in sync thing again. "But it was a little weird in the beginning when he approached us." Roland stated. "What do you mean?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"He asked for the Lycan's mate."
I drew in a long breath, as my eyes wandered around the room. That's not possible. The only werewolves that know I am Aiken's mate are the High Wolves of both packs. Which include my parents, Titus, Blood Moon's High Warrior, Gamma and Beta. And also Aiken, Alaera, and the Lycan Gamma and their witch advisor, Piper.
This does not make any sense.
I was pulled out from my thoughts as Carla, Tyler and Rosie Everglade had stormed into the twin's room. Carla seemed to be at the brink of tears, embracing her children as a choked sob escaped her throat. "Are you alright? I was worried sick." She asked the rascals.
They giggled at their mother's actions, "Yes Mommy, we're okay." As Carla began to converse with her twins and little Rosie, Tyler Everglade approached me. "Are you okay?" I smiled gratefully at him, silently thanking him for his undying concern. "I'm okay, couple of scratches here and there, but nothing severe."
"Thank you for making sure they were alright."
I smiled genuinely at thr concerned father, my being consumed with content as I observed the little bundle of family reunite. "It was my job anyways."
He nodded, then walked off to sit near his family. I was about to comment on something Rosie had stated when a deafening growl of a certain Alpha King sounded through the shuffling hallways of the infirmary. I had not known who it belonged to, but my instinct gave me a vague idea of who would be responsible for these actions.
