Even though I've had a long day, it was hard for me to get to sleep. Masaomi was out on the couch, and I was left pacing back and forth in the hallway. I must be thinking about things too much. I sighed, sitting on the floor beside Masaomi other than the couch parallel to him. I gently ran my fingers through his golden locks, resting my head on the arm rest. When he's awake, he looks so lively; when he's sleeping, he looks so cute and innocent.
The reason why Masaomi was sleeping on the couch was not because he fell asleep watching T.V. He was kind enough to let me sleep in his bed, and I just feel guilty kicking him out of his own room.
I heard buzzing, like a phone vibrating. I turned my head and saw my phone shaking on the coffee table. I stopped playing with Masaomi's hair and picked it up. I turned it on, seeing I had just gotten a text... at one o'clock in the morning. Who could be texting me this late? I got curious, so I took a look at it, and it read:
"Hello, Evie-chan~ (ц`∀'ц*)"
I texted back, "Who is this?" Once I did, I got a reply almost instantly.
"And I thought you would recognize me, too... The name's Izaya Orihara."
"What are you doing, texting me so late!? And how'd you get my number, stalker!?"
"'Stalker'? Now that's not nice."
"Oh, be quiet and tell me what you want!"
"o(╥﹏╥)o How cruel, Evie-chan... How can you be so mean after I saved your ass?" I sighed as he sent me another text. "Well, I was going to say someone really wants to see you~"
"Are you trying to flatter me?"
"Nope~ It's a girl calling herself 'Ariel'."
I covered my mouth before I squeaked in shock and texted back, "Eeh!? That's my sister!"
"Please get her! She's driving me crazy! (≧0≦) She won't stop glaring, and she's calling me names!"
I blew my hair out of my face as I replied. "I'll have a talk with her. Where's your place? I'll get her in the morning."
"Head to Shinjuku. I'll be waiting outside for you, Evie-chan~"
"OK, thanks. See ya."
"Bye-bye bi~"
I shut down my phone, which I though I did before I headed upstairs, and quietly growled. Glaring and name calling, huh? Ugh! Why am I the one who has to watch her!? I can simply just leave her with Izaya, but I'd figure that'd be too much for him. I hate being the older sibling...
I pushed myself off of the sofa chair, dressed and ready to go. Masaomi was still lying down in the clothes he wore the other day. "Where are you going?" he asked, sitting up.
"Somewhere," I replied. So, Shinjuku. How do I get there again? I nervously chuckled. "Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah?" Masaomi rubbed the sleepiness out of his eyes.
"Do you know how to get to Shinjuku?"
"Shinjuku? Why'd you need to go there?"
"To... get someone."
"And whose that someone?"
"... My little sister."
By this point, Masaomi was talking to himself. "Wow, a cute girl and her sister! Is she just as cute?"
"Don't start with that. For one, she's too young. And second, you're going to hate her attitude."
"She's that bad, huh? Where is she?"
I sighed. "At Izaya's place..."
"Izaya's place? I hope he didn't do anything dirty." Masaomi gave a dirty look.
"Hey! Izaya may be creepy, but he's not a pedophile!" Masaomi started laughing.
"You can't take a joke, can you?"
I lightly blushed. "Anyways, I really have to get going. Izaya seemed pretty annoyed when he texted me."
"He texted you? You gave him your number?" Masaomi was acting as if he s jealous.
"It's not like that!" I said with my hands up in defense. "I don't know how he got my number! Maybe my sister gave it to him?" I headed to the door. "I should be back within an hour or so."
"C'mon, let me keep you company!"
"You look tired. Just rest. It's early, and you fell asleep pretty late..."
"But you don't know how to get there, do you?"
I sighed, "No..."
"So," Masaomi stood up, "let me lead the way!"
"You want to tag along this bad, don'tcha?" He grinned and nodded, walking over to me. He draped his arm around my shoulders.
"C'mon, sweet cheeks! You're going to thank me for coming along sooner or later!"
"Okay, let's get going."
As we headed down the streets of Ikebukuro, I kept on seeing posters on shops. I pointed to it, "What does that say?"
"Right, I forgot. You can't read Japanese, can you? It says, 'Who is the Slasher?' If you ever decide to go out on your own, keep a look out for the Slasher. You've heard of it, right?"
"Yeah. It's happening more frequently now, isn't it?"
Masaomi nodded. "There's been several Slasher attacks in the passed few weeks, so be careful."
"Thanks for the warning. I will."
After a few minutes, I saw a figure waving at us in the distance. I saw grey fur on his jacket, and instantly knew it was Izaya. I sighed, copying his action. Once we got closer, Izaya spoke. "Hey, Evie-chan!~" He pronounced my nickname Eevee-chan. Honestly, it sounded better than Evy. I looked over to Ariel, who was leaning on a street pole with her arms crossed. "I see you brought Masaomi along."
"He wanted to, so I let him. Anyway..." I walked over to Ariel as she glanced at me with narrow eyes, "what's your deal, Ariel? Why must you keep being rude to other people?"
"He's creepy..." She gave Izaya a look of disgust. "He keeps on looking at me."
"I was only making sure you didn't break anything," Izaya protested.
"What did you call him?" I asked.
"Excuse me?" Her voice was sassy, like always.
"He texted me last night saying you were glaring at him and calling him names. What were they?"
"Pervert and pedophile were two of them," Izaya said. "Trust me, I'm no pervert, nor would I ever hook up with you."
"Apologize," I told Ariel.
"No."
"I said apologize!"
"No way!"
"I'll give you a treat if you do~"
Ariel seemed interested now. "Like what?"
"You like sushi, right? I can take you to Russia Sushi, once I get the money to do so."
"Fine..." She turned to Izaya. "I'm sorry."
"For?"
"For glaring."
"And?"
"... And calling you a pervert and pedophile..."
Izaya nodded and bent down to me, whispering, "How can you deal with her?"
"I usually can't," I said just as quiet. "I sometime just want to hit her, but I get in trouble every time." I turned over to Masaomi, who was covering his mouth and cackling. Izaya straightened up and faced him.
"Did I miss something?" he asked sarcastically. Apparently, Masaomi was trying so hard to conceal his laughter that he really couldn't speak without bursting into giggles. Izaya turned back to me. "You aren't keeping your promise, are you?"
"Nope."
"Hey! Then I take it back!"
"Watch your mouth or you'll never get sushi as long as I'm around."
Ariel crossed her arms and muttered, "I hope Shizuo beats the crap outta you...!"
I inhaled deeply, trying to control my anger, and said, "Yup, you're not getting anything from me." I looked at Izaya and bowed my head slightly. "Sorry about her; she was born like this."
"How mean!" Ariel said, and Masaomi finally burst out laughing.
