Everything's gotten more awkward the passed few days since Ariel got here. According to her, she woke up in the hospital and was released a day later. She claimed Izaya didn't find her. Rather, she found him. He said he knew me, and Ariel got him to let me know about her arrival. "And yet, you had a terrible attitude with the man who temporarily took you in for the night," I had said sarcastically, sitting on the sofa's armrest as Ariel sat down on the couch. Masaomi was slumped onto a sofa chair, his legs hanging over one side. He occasionally laughed just thinking about the rude names Ariel said to Izaya. "You should've at least thanked him for that. Didn't you say you'd be nice to people other than me?"
"Yeah, but he's more different than you described him to me."
"What's different, then?"
"Well... he is sometimes annoying; not in a cute way, really. Mostly just about his love for humans."
"Is that it...?" I was honestly surprised. Not really a big difference. I did tell her about his love for humans, though I did say he was annoying in a cute way.
"He's not kawaii, either!" I covered her mouth as Masaomi looked over.
"Who's not cute?" he asked curiously.
Ariel pushed my hand away. "You!"
"I'm hurt..." Masaomi was pretending to be a drama queen.
"Don't listen to her!" I said, walking over. I turned to face Ariel. "That was mean, you know! Show him some respect!" Masaomi hugged me around my waist as I looked down at him.
"It's nice to know a hot chick like you cares so much about a flawless guy like me!~" He buried his face into my chest and looked up to me as I blushed madly. "So~ boobilicious!"
"Oh, great," Ariel sighed as I nudged Masaomi, his head mainly, off of my chest. "Now we have another pervert among us."
"Masaomi can be a perv, but there's no need to be so negative about it."
"Don't start dating! He's going to break your heart~"
"Break her heart?" Masaomi repeated, sitting up. "If I ever dated her," he hugged me again from behind, "I'd make her the happiest girl in the world!~"
"I bet you say that all the time," Ariel said. "Wait... no-"
"Stop!" I said quickly, but calmly. "Not another word from you. I can date whomever I please." Masaomi pulled me onto his lap as I lightly blushed.
"Which is me, right?~"
"We'll see~"
"Okay, Crazy Girl and Perv Boy; I wonder how that'll turn out?" Ariel said aloud.
"Stop calling Masaomi a pervert!"
"So you want him to grope you?~" Ariel teased.
"O-of course not!" My face turned even more red as Masaomi laughed.
"You look cu~te when you blush like that!"
"Ee~ Kawaii~" Ariel teased as my face became as red as a cherry.
"C-cut it out!"
"Cuddle! Cuddle! C'mon, I know you want to~"
"Stop teasing me!"
"I think we've done enough," Masaomi chuckled, releasing me from his embrace as I stood up. He stood beside me. "It's easy to make you blush~"
"She only blushes around people she likes," Ariel stated.
"N... no!" I said, but there was more embarrassment than denial in my voice.
"I knew it!" Masaomi said. "You like me~" He draped his arm over my shoulder. "Maybe sometime, I can take you out? Just the two of us~"
"Uh... sure, I'd be glad to." We did go out for that drink, but I almost forgot Mikado was there because he was so quiet.
Masaomi silently cheered, "She said yes again!~" He faced me and spoke louder, "Let's go meet up with the guys! They should be waiting for us at the park."
"I'm coming, too, right?" Ariel asked.
"We have no choice," I said. "You're too young to be left alone, and I can't trust you by yourself. Especially here."
"Okay, but that was a little mean, you know..."
"To you, everything's mean."
"Sisterly love~" Masaomi joked, and I chuckled as we headed out the door.
I stood next to Masaomi as Ariel kept running up front. "Stay close," I said. "It's on me if you get hurt." She listened and stopped for a moment so we could catch up a bit before running off again.
"Are you her older sister?"
I looked at Masaomi. "Well, I'm the middle child. Five in total. She's just one of them."
"Wow, a lot of kids... How may sisters do you have?"
"Three; two are younger, and one's older. Ariel's the youngest."
"And an older brother, I'm guessing? Do you take care of them sometimes? Your younger siblings."
"Yeah, whenever we're home alone. Me and my sister are actually rare; we're twins, only four minutes apart."
"I wonder what it's like to have a twin?" Masaomi wondered out loud.
"It's kind of annoying. Her name is Emily, but most people I know mix up our names. Only my close friends can tell us apart, which honestly isn't that hard. She has a pixie cut, I don't. She has glasses, I don't. She's shorter, I'm taller. But, my science teacher keeps calling me Twin One, no matter how different we look." I sighed, but smiled hearing Masaomi chuckle at my story. Suddenly, someone ran into me, and then behind me.
It was Ariel.
"What is it this time?"
"It's the creep again!"
"Izaya?"
A few seconds later, there were crashes and bangs heard, coming from around the block. A large pole with a sign on it was thrown, and soon came a running Izaya. He glanced over to us and stopped next to me. "Hey, Evie-chan~" he said with a smirk. "You out with Masaomi again?" Ariel glared at him, and he stared at her dully. "You brought Kusogaki-me along, too, huh?~"
"Had to," I replied as Ariel stood on the other side of Masaomi. Shizuo ran up a couple yards away with a vending machine in his hands.
"IIIZAAYAAAA!" He threw it as the informant quickly stood behind me with his hands on my shoulders. Masaomi pulled me away from Izaya as the vending machine hit the ground just next to where I was. He shielded the rocks and pebbles flying in the air from and the gray dust cloud from getting into my eyes. Ariel hid behind me as Masaomi sent a glare towards Izaya.
"Why'd you use her as a shield?" Izaya chuckled without an answer as he ran off, Shizuo yelling at him and on his trail. Masaomi muttered a curse at him.
"It's fine, Masaomi! I'm not hurt or anything, so please don't try to pick a fight with him."
"... All right, but next time, I'm not letting him off that easy."
"Come on...!" Ariel said. "Let's hurry before we run into those lunatics again!"
"Calling them lunatics is going too far. They aren't crazy-"
"Izaya's the very definition of crazy."
I sighed, muttering, "Now I get why he called you Kusogaki-me..."
"Hmm? What does Kusogaki-me mean?"
"Unpleasant child. The -me means you piss him off. Guess that means he doesn't like you." And I thought he loved all of humanity! Now there are two people he despises: Shizuo Heiwajima, and my little sister.
