We hung out a little while, but the feeling of betrayal made me want to leave. I told her I wasn't feeling well and left. I just need to sleep, I told myself as I got back to my house.
The next morning wasn't my greatest. I overslept, and my rush to school was not pretty. I threw on my sweater, made toast, and grabbed my stuff and toast (by the mouth obviously) while rushing out the door.
Not paying attention, I ran straight into someone and began falling back. I squealed as I braced myself for a hard impact to the asphalt. The impact wasn't nearly as solid as I expected... the person caught me.
I carefully opened my eyes to reveal Nates face. "I'm so, so sorry Nate!" I bowed my head in apology, hiding the blush from my embarrassment. He smiled, his laugh like liquid gold as he accepted my apologies.
As we began walking to school together, he put his arm around my shoulder... it was probably just to make sure I didn't fall again. "Eww, you're with her? Why not ditch her, she's a slut." A girl stated as we approached the school. He brushed her comment off, along with similar comments and disgusted stares. We had arrived with a few minutes to spare luckily.
He kept his arm around me until we arrived in front of my classroom. "Thank you..." I mumbled while giving him a quick hug.
"Meet me at lunch?" He asked while hugging back. I nodded, letting go, I then walked into History to find Lucy sitting next to some girls who always talk about me. Whatever, she can be friends with who she wants... right? I avoided her line of sight and made my way to the seat in the back.
As class started, Lucy noticed me and a slight look of horror was on her face. Only for a moment though, or maybe it was just my imagination. She smiled wide at me. "I thought you didn't feel well, I would have totally walked with you." She took her seat next to mine.
"A miraculous recovery by sleep," I whispered, looking into her dark orange eyes. "I was running late anyways, hate to have you late too." I whispered, turning my attention to Ms.Zurich at the front of the room.
Nothing happened in that class, nothing ever did. Lucy did make the class more interesting though, making comments on the kids in class and the things we watched. It was probably the most fun I've had in classes, she couldn't be just tricking me... could she?
