You were always an athlete. Your childish energy turned into raw determination. You had a team. You loved each other. You poured yourself into it. You were dedicated... To women's gymnastics. There was no uncomplicated way it could've ended. You thought they would stand by you. You thought they were there for you. A couple were. Most didn't understand at all. It started with my name and escalated from there. They barely tried. Your coaches were nice. They supported you but tried to get you to stay. You couldn't. It wasn't you. You found other things. You couldn't continue with women's artistic gymnastics in the USA gymnastics program. It was better for me in the end. I'm still an athlete. It was in me from the start. You brought the passion to life and figured out how to keep it alive. I promise to continue your project. I'll always be an athlete.
