The moon had risen to the center of the night sky, accompanied by the stars. I was alone tonight, Alex and I had a lead on our latest criminal. I ordered him to stay behind, to wait for me at the Morticians'. I was only streets away from them, so if I did need him all I had to do was order it. The sound of running feet echoed from around the corner, he was coming this way. This particular convict didn't have a real name, (at least to our knowledge), he only went by The Sufferer. Killing innocent people for false crimes.

'disgusting' I mentally remarked.

The man turned the corner, stopping seeing my blackened form. I wore a knee length white dress, simple in detail. And over it a hooded, long sleeve, button up cloak. I had pulled the hood far beyond my eyes, revealing only my mouth as a visible feature. The man laughed confidently, "Now tell me, what's a pathetic little girl like you doing here." He asked tartly. No reply. I only stood there, waiting. There was a strong gust of wind, causing my cloak and dress to stir up, the small amount of hair dangling from my face moved too. The man grew impatient, "I am the Sufferer, and you shall die!" He seemed to try and scare me off, it didn't work. My first reply was only a sinister smile, accompanied by a grim laugh. The man raised an eyebrow, waiting for something else. I slowly raised my head, revealing my piercing crimson orbs. It startled him at first, but he soon regained his over confidence. Cocking my head to the side, I finally decided to speak, "I feel no shame in thinking about your death." I remarked calmly. The man growled and lunged, with ease I dodged him completely. Causing the criminal to run face first into the wall. He stood up, his nose bloodied. Pulling out a knife he again lunged at me, and again I dodged him. Only this time pulling out my own weapon, a sword. I drew the sharp blade, the sound of scraping metal rang out as I did. The blade glistened in the light, showing off it's beauty. Aiming the sharp end towards my opponent, I charged without warning. Within seconds the man fell to the ground without a sound, not even a groan of pain. Blood dripped from the once clean blade, I had sliced open his neck. A pallet of blood began to form underneath the corpse, "Alex, the victim has been eliminated. Come here now, that's an order." No sooner than I had spoken the stern words, Alex was standing in front of me. He gave a questioning gaze, "Are you alright Milady?" His voice was calm, I nodded.

We left the scene after the Mortician had taken the body, it was going to rain soon and I did not want to get wet. Alex and I walked down the dark, lonely streets until we were stopped by a pale man in a more sophisticated, white butler's suit. He carried with him a gold sword, his eyes retained a crystal blue color, and his white hair was pulled back into a ponytail. It was longer than mine. I raised an eyebrow at him, he smiled kindly before opening his mouth, "I am Feyril, Her Majesty's butler." He paused and studied my expression, "The Queen has requested you after hearing of your abilities in justice and protection." He smiled and held out his gloved hand, waiting for my response. I sighed, and with a glance at Alex, I placed my hand into his. Feyril took us to the royal estate, where the Queen awaited our arrival.

Once we got there things went smoothly, she asked us both questions, asked for our opinions on things, and then asked me the life changing question. Her expression remained calm, and giving a sweet smile she asked, "Lilian, would you consider being my guard, protecting the people of London, and becoming an assassin." I leaned against the wall across from her and stared intently, "what's in it for me? There's always a catch to these things." She nodded in understanding. Standing she replied, "nothing, I'll repay you however you wish. All I ask is that you protect the people, and myself." I thought about it for a long time, and finally came out with an answer. Walking to her and holding out my hand I smiled, "I believe we have an agreement your majesty." She smiled too, and we sealed the deal with a firm shake of hands. I left there with a whole new perspective, I now risked, no, sacrificed my own life to protect others. But somehow I knew I was safe, safe with my Butler by my side and the protection of her majesty.
