Things were getting to awkward between you and Cassie. You'd exchange glances here and there, and- if you were lucky- you'd capture her in a small conversation. But lately, she seemed to be avoiding you. It hurt, of course, but you were strong; you'd get through the pain in time.

Wait, pain? You didn't...like Cassie, did you..? Impossible!

Although...she was really pretty. You loved her hair; it suited her perfectly. She was sweet to you up until recently, and when she laughed...wow.

It was official. You had a crush on your leaders' daughter.

This couldn't end well.

The thoughts consumed you for the longest time, distracting you from your work. You simply stared at the screen in front of you until your teammate Jacqui tapped your shoulder and brought you back to reality. You turned and looked at her, the gentle smile on her features turning to a small frown of concern.

"You okay, Y/N?" She asked. You simply shrugged in reply, making Jacqui let out a small exasperated sigh.

"It's Cassie, isn't it?" She asked. And just like that, you came apart. You ran your fingers through your hair as you told Jacqui everything you had been mulling over before she stopped to talk to you. You admitted to liking Cassie, to thinking about her constantly, everything. About how you wanted to be with her, but she had been avoiding you and how that hurt your feelings but it was okay since you could get through it. And, when you were finally done confessing everything to your friend, you looked up at her; you thought for a split second that you saw a small blur of blonde disappear down the hallway, but brushed this off.

Jacqui sighed a bit quieter this time, letting the silence hang over you two for a bit. Finally, she stood. "I think you should go try and talk to her. You may have a connection. Who knows?" You stood with her, letting her wrap you in a short hug.

"Go get her, tiger." She said, patting you on the back as you walked to Cassie's room. Once you reached the door, you knocked softly.

"Who?" You heard a groggy voice say from the other side of the door. It sounded sleepy, although...you could faintly hear someone sniffle. Was it Cassie?

You brushed the thought off and sighed. "It's me, Y/N." You said softly. On the other side of the door you heard shuffling, and someone clear their throat before you the doorknob turned and the door opened.

There, in front of you, stood Cassandra Cage. Her hair was disheveled and her eyes were slightly puffy. She straightened her posture when she saw you.

"Y-Y/N. I didn't think you-"

You shook your head, your E/C orbs gazing directly into hers without a shred of the sadness they had shown before. "Can I talk to you? Alone?" You asked, keeping your voice steady even though you thought for sure you would fall apart if she declined. Instead, she nodded and stepped back, opening the door and allowing you to enter. Once the door was closed, you were able to inspect her room a bit.

It was exactly like you thought it would be. There were a few posters here and there, pictures of her friends and family, but that was it. Nothing with a hint of self expression than that. It almost hurt your heart, seeing the room. Cassie sat on the bed, looking down at her hands which were folded in her lap. You sat on the bed beside her, making sure to put a little bit of space between you. You decided to let the silence hang in the air for a little while before Cassie broke it.

"What did you wanna talk to me about, Y/N?" She didn't look at you as she spoke, but you nodded.

"Y-yeah. I uh..." You sighed and ran your fingers through your hair. "W-well...Cassie, I...I wanted to ask why you've been avoiding me the past few weeks." You said softly. She tensed a bit, finally sitting up straight to look you in the eye.

"Y-Y/N." She stammered. "You really want to know?" She asked. You nodded again. Cassie sighed and put her hand on your shoulder. She gave you a small smile; your heart almost dropped.

"I like you, Y/N. You're pretty and smart and caring, and...I've been avoiding you because I didn't think I'd ever have a chance with you." She sighed. You reached up and held her cheek.

"Then what about your face? You've been crying." You said softly. She laughed and took your hand in hers.

"Because I kept thinking myself into a rut. I was scared that you wouldn't like me back." She started to ramble, making you sigh and pull her into a hug.

"I would never say no to you, Cassie. The truth is I was coming down here to confess to you that I feel the same." You said, holding onto her. Cassie gasped and bit her lip as more tears came to her eyes, burying her face in your chest. You smiled and closed your eyes, holding her.

"So does this mean you'll stop avoiding me like I have four arms or something?"

Cassie laughed. "Alright, fine." She smiled and kissed your cheek.

From how things turned out, you thought, this did end well. Very, very, very well.
