POV Quinn.
Night falls as I walk down the street. I adjust the heavy bag over my shoulder and continued walking with firm steps. I notice the police cars parked in front of me and head to the entrance of the police station. I open the heavy glass door that has the police logo engraved in the glass. I let it close itself behind me as I approached the lady who is on the other side of the high table. She looks up, tired when she hears the sound of the door closing and a smile appears on her thin pink lips.
"What are you doing here, honey?" she questions as she takes down the spectacles of her glassy eyes.
I smile her back and support on the table the paper bag with food that is in my hands .
"Is he here?"
She looks away from me and gets up from the chair revealing her police uniform. Her plump short body turns to a pile of papers which are behind her and grabs a brown folder beside the other documents. She approaches me again and sits heavily on the wheelchair. She hands me a pass to walk in the station that I snatch of his stubby fingers and place it around my neck.
"Give this to him" she tells me laying the bulging manila folder next to the bag I had placed there previously.
I take everything with both hands and I leave the tired woman with a smile on my pink lips. As I walk down the familiar corridors, thousands of memories of the hours I spent in this station come to my mind. All games of cops and robbers Ryan and I had played during our childhood, all police caps that had been over my head and all the times I had managed to escape from the cells thanks to my ability, made me smile more wide.
Finally, after greetings of the people I pass by in the place, I come to the office I was seeking. I put the paper bag over other documents and knock on the door with my knuckles. A warm male voice asks me to go in and I turn the knob being careful not to drop the bag. The man's eyes shine brightly when he sees me enter in the room.
"My girl, what are you doing here?" He asks as I close the door behind me.
I walk to the desktop of the table that separates us, my father and I, before leaning on it and kiss his warm cheek.
"My mom told me to bring you dinner " I answer while I put everything I hace over my hands on the table.
My father eagerly grabs the package that I bring from our home and open it slowly. I occupy a chair that is in front of him and put my heavy bag on my lap. I watch the brown-eyed man looking in detail at the contents inside the bag. After a few seconds of inspection, he closes it again and places it next to his computer screen.
"Marge gave me this for you"
I hand the loaded folder and land ut on his outstretched hand.
"This I can wait" he says laying it aside on his desk "I thought I wouldn't see you until tomorrow evening"
I shrug and leaned against the back of the chair.
"Mom was like crazy cleaning the house for Ryan's arrival and she has practically kicked me out" I explained before a giggle escapes from my mouth.
My father laughs and interlace his thin fingers over the table.
"Are you excited about seeing your brother?"
Ryan is my perfect and adored brother. He is four years older than me so he has finished what he was studying in college and come back home tomorrow morning after a long summer vacation. I don't deny I want to see him but, I have to admit, I'm better when he's not around here. Not that I don't love him, he is my brother and I love him with all my heart, but my first month of college has been perfect and now I had to work harder.
