There I was standing in front of my own school on a sunny Monday morning in my messy uniform. The gloomy old building stared back at me! I was promoted to third year in Tagore International High School. 'I would rather go out and have some fun with chicks!', I thought, fearing the torture in store for me in there.
Something heavy (most probably, a bag filled with heavy books) banged against my back which was the most defenseless area, 'ouch!', and a familiar voice greeted me "yo!".
I put forward my hand for my share of lemonade, but he scooted it away in the most obvious manner. 'Huh?' "I am thirsty, man!"
"Go, buy your own drink!" My best friend pointed towards a vending machine near the end of the road.
"Selfish bastard!", I murmured under my breath.
He entered the school premises and was far ahead of me but his ears caught my words. "It takes one to know one!", he shouted at the top of his lungs. Ya! He definitely heard!

As I was passing through the school grounds, all the eyes were on me. The young and the old, both alike. Every year had been the same for me. My best friend described it as my 'charm'. 'Does it work on guys too? Gosh! What am I thinking?' Girls, from everywhere, flocked towards me like I'm a fucking magnet (not that I hate it!). But I was still grumpy from lack of sleep last night and not yet ready to play with the 'princesses'! "Hey there!", I winked at one. I caressed the hand of another. "May I have the pleasure?" Without waiting for a reply, I kissed her hand (whose?). The girls started shouting and fainting all around me (ugh! The fuss they make!). I walked away gracefully from the crime scene!

"You don't change, do you?", I could say from his voice that James was utterly disgusted by my charming ways!
"Dear Jimmy, people change when they absolutely have to!", I sat down on the seat near him and continued, "I'm beat! All these drama on the first day of my third year!"
"Tuck your shirt in!"
"Why are you suddenly talking like that?" I was surprised.
James brought out a piece of paper from inside his bag and offered it to me. I put my legs off the desk and leaned forward to grab the printed paper from him. It read...

NOTICE: All third years are requested to formally welcome the first years. The event will start from 11 A.M in the central auditorium. Please conclude all your preparations by then and assemble in time.
Your general secretary,
Derek Collins

I stood up silently and tucked away my shirt properly. I was the class secretary of the school, meaning that I had to organize the event along with other committee and various club members! "Why wasn't I notified?", I was anxious, "how the hell do you know and I don't?" I reiterated my question.
James sat down in his seat and calmly replied, "it's you who didn't pay attention to the notice board while playing with your girls! Even pamphlets were distributed!"
I promised him an extra beating for making fun of me again and hurried to the auditorium. I had to access the amount of damage incurred during my absence! Or maybe, they were rather thankful!

The auditorium was beaming with casual chatters and activities. The preparation was going on in full swing. I approached the general secretary and hoped that he didn't notice my tardiness. But alas!
"Where were you, Mr. Becket?"
I gave a wry smile and said, "how can I help?", because I had no excuses to give.
"Prepare your speech and take care of the decorations at the entrance. President is not half as generous as I am.", he warned me!
'As if I care!', I thought and went to the entrance way to exercise my powers. 'And for speech...hmmm...I don't need it!'
"Hey, Harry!"
"Uhh! Hi! How's the prep going?", I looked above to see Elvis hanging frills on the door, standing on the ladder.
He stopped and said, " I think I can handle this one! But those guys need serious help!" He pointed towards some second years. They were hopeless!
"Okay! Then laters!", and I dashed towards them. 'I will be doomed if the president finds out!'

"Hey guys, what the hell are you doing?", I stood behind those dimwits with my hands spread out in an annoyed stance.
"We...we are prepping!", a meek girl stepped up.
'There was a girl here! Shit! Shit!!' "Uh no, why is a lady doing a man's job?", I asked the others, after identifying that none others were delicate ladies! I took her right hand and said, "thanks for your hardwork. Please go and relax!"
All the background noises showed dissatisfaction but haters gonna hate! I took care of the decorations on my own. The second years just wasted their time anyway.
