Chapter 4: Lucy's Survival

He shot again, but not near me, but fairly close to Lilly sitting in Natalia's lap. "Lilly get over there!" Natalia pushed her the the space where our feet go. Shhoop. Thhhuuuummmppp I heard the bullet fly past me and into the seat. At this point Lilly was on the ground and Natalia is pressing her chin to her knees I went to the back and grabbed a knife, my shoulder felt as if it was on fire! It hurt! But for our survival I needed the knife. I grabbed it as soon as I found it in the cup holder. I grabbed it and held in front of me as soon as I turned. I also saw him right by the door, he reached for the door handle, and opened the door. He held the gun to my forehead. "no! Please! I am human! Don't! I will do anything!" he did not remove the gun from my head "who are you all? Are any of you infected?" he had a manly voice. "Im Lucy Murphy, that's Natalia Jones and this is Lilly, she does not talk, but that is what we call her" I pointed to Natalia and rubbed Lilly's head. "are you infected?" he sounds dangerouse "no, non of us" my voice cracked. He did not remove the gun from my forehead "you will be if you don't treat that" I forgot about my shoulder, I looked down. "when did you get hit?" seriously! He is the one who fricking shot me! "YOU SHOT ME!" I heard a click, knowing he loaded the gun. If he accidently pulled the trigger... I was dead. "DON'T YOU YELL AT ME GIRL!" ok I am done! I held the knife firmly in my hand, using my other to push away his hand holding the gun. I turned him and put the blade to his neck "you watch your tone! Got it!" it was not a question. "other way around missy" he said quietly but meaning for me to hear, his hand went to the knife in mine, grabbed it easily and turned me and held it to my neck. His face looked deadly. I got to admit it, I was suprised with his fast actions. "you will be infected shortly, I will kill you, or the infection will" but he said if we treat it, I might not get infected "but if we treat it?" "don't ask, all the doctors are dead, they were all sent to the hospital, and no one goes there and comes back alive" but we just proved him wrong "we went there, and we survived" he scrawled at me "my parents were doctors, and I am learning to be one..." natalia's small voice spoke up, we both turned out gaze to her. I looked back at him and he removed the knife. We stood there for a few seconds "we came here for supplies, might as well get them" I said it as if I ruled the planet and I had not just had my life in a stranger's hand. "let's go" I made a movement with my head to tell Lilly and Natalia to follow "we are going to need a new car, someone broke our windshield" I glared at the man. He brushed a hand through his hair, "since I did break it, and you can't use your car, I might as well let you have a drive in my car" he said it annoyed. We walked out of the car and went to the shop. We grabbed guns, bullets, snacks, food, knifes, bags, and carried a few maps and other things. "what's your name, I kind of don't want to go in a car with a man I don't even know the name of" I was asking while I packed the stuff into the bag "it does not matter, your friend should take care of your arm" he said it rudely and did not even look at me, and that second Natalia came in the room with lily "come on Lucy we need to see that shoulder" she glared at the boy. I slowly walked over to her but lily came running to me and held on my leg. I smiled. What a nice child. "okay lily, I am not going anywhere" I held out my hand and she took it. We walked with Natalia to a small room. She looked at my arm, and moved my raw flesh every once in a while where I will hiss at her, saying what I feel. She pulled out the bullet. It hurt a lot, but when she said she was done, I felt better. The pain was some what gone. We grabbed our stuff and went to the man's car, what choice did we have, there where no others. Once we got in the car we settled "Brook" he spoke again "pardon me?" what does he mean Brook? "the names Brook" oh ok, I finally don't have to think of him as "the man" but anyways he started driving. We entered in a highway where there were many broken and crashed cars. "where are we going?" I had no idea but I was not brave enough as Natalia to ask. He pulled over and turned at Natalia "does it matter?!" woah, what is up with his tone! I am getting irritated. "n- no" I feel bad for her, that was all she could say. "what was that!?" ok I am just about done "you know what she said! Why ask!?" wait... Did that come from me? He moved his death glare to me "why are you so moody? And why are you all scarred and begfull when it comes to life or death, but otherwise you are always getting on my nerves!?" geez! "because I can!" he leaned over to me "I hope this is loud and clear! Don't, and you do what I say!" omg who does he think he is! "who do you think you are!" "better than all 3 of you combined! Oh, I don't just think it, I know it!" wow. "what makes you so su-" he slapped me "shut up!" I bit the insides of my mouth. I then looked out the window, refusing to show my tears, threatening to fall. This is why I hate boys. "fine" I muttered, but made it loud enough for him to hear. I heard him sigh. What do I care!? "go ahead and sulk" for the first time in a while he actually talked and not yelled. I felt a warm, trembling hands hold my arm sweater, I looked down. It was Lilly. She looked like SHE will cry. I forced a smile through my first falling tears. Brook pulled the car out of park and started driving, Lilly let go of my arm. Natalia held my shoulder. I looked out the window. Once the last tear dropped, Brook parked the car. I looked at the surroundings. A mansion? But the thing that worried me was the zombie 50 yards away... Looking in our direction.
